La Mer The Essential Moisture Collection RM1100

    9.26.2013

La Mer The Essential Moisture Collection (RM1100)

The story of the Miracle Broth™ and the legendary Crème de la Mer is one of hope and perseverance, meticulous science and the restorative power of the sea.

Half a century ago, aerospace physicist Dr. Max Huber suffered burns in a laboratory accident and began a personal quest to transform the look of his skin. He believed the sea was a miraculous resource and sea kelp, in particular, captured his imagination. With its endless ability to regenerate itself, its nourishing properties and the powerful way it retained moisture, it held promise and hope. 12 years passed. 6,000 experiments were conducted. Finally, he perfected the precious, nurturing Miracle Broth™, which he incorporated into Crème de la Mer, the very first La Mer formula.

In 2012, we were introduced to La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Cream. Luxuriously rich, yet weightless; the revolutionary new formula delivered the profound benefits of Crème de la Mer in a soft, luxurious texture. The advanced absorption technology, Moisturizing Spheres, allows this new formula to penetrate deeply, replenishing moisture and strengthening skin.

    A new miracle was born.

This year, La Mer is introducing The Essential Moisture Collection (RM1100). The limited-edition collection features The Moisturizing Soft Cream in 60ml and a handy little 15ml (a wonderful size for the jet-setter).

La Mer The Essential Moisture Collection (RM1100) is available exclusively in October 2013.

My Solvil et Titus & Crizal Forte UV Lenses Review

    9.21.2013

well I do, I name this one Galaxy

Meh~ I'm a sentimental fool. I like to give names to my glasses (eyewear with lenses), guess that's how attached I am to them. It also helps to identify the type I have. My pink glasses is call pinkie (obviously) while my Tiffany & Co eye frame fitted with transitions lenses is called Tiffany (again obvious). My latest eyewear fitted with Crizal Forte UV Lenses is definitely my current favorite for reasons I explained in my Crizal Forte UV Lenses by Essilor post.

    protects against UV
    smudge, dust, scratch proof
    glare free & repels water

So yes I name my current baby, Galaxy because I feel the purple pink ombre with clear bright lenses reminds me of Star Trek's galaxy scenes. Plus I feel it would be a powerful name fitting for the awesome lenses it has on.

wait, first let me show off my Galaxy!

I think I made a good choice with the help of suggestions given by friends who accompanied me to Optical 88, Mid Valley. I tried on more than 10 frames, each with a different look. Finally I settle for this particular one from Solvil et Titus. The shape of the frame was unique and I believe it suited my round shaped face well. My friends also agreed and encouraged me to go for it!.

A round face is defined by a soft, circular shape where the width and length are almost equal. Balance your softer features with a more angled look. Defined, angled frames in rectangular shapes will sharpen your features and add definition.

Choosing the right lenses and the right frames matters. The optician will be able to advise what kind of shape would best suit a person's face shape. For me, round shape face would benefit from rectangular, horizontal styles so my face look longer and slimmer.

    see the handsome shape

Solvil et Titus + Crizal Forte UV Lenses

really like how clear the lenses are

I got my frame & lenses from Optical 88, Mid Valley

they have a lot of luxury brands

I got my eye-check right here too

always take pictures of yourself when choosing a frame!
(so you know how it looks like on you)

It only took me a week to collect my glasses after ordering it at Optical 88, Mid Valley. After that I wore it for two months now, under the sun, rain or at home. I am a careless and lazy person so I don't normally clean my lenses the "right" way. That is just bad habbit I know. It's quite surprising today that when I wash my lenses under running water and check them, I don't see any scratches on them! whopeee!!!

two months & still in great condition

see can you spot any scratches or dirt on it?

barely gets oil & fingerprint too

a secret way to find out if your lenses is the real thing!

Overall I am quite happy with my current eye frame and lenses. I have friends telling me they bought good lenses but fitted them into a cheap affordable frame because it wouldn't make a difference right? No, they learn it the hard way when the frame broke after a month and the lenses has to be cut again to re-fit into a new frame. Waste money and time :( I feel sad for her.

I will recommend friends to go for Crizal Forte UV Lenses, it's really good! From my photographs you can see it's still in good shape and it's crystal clear (sampai boleh tengok sinki & neighbors trees). BEST BEST PART? I learn a tip from the people at Essilor on how to check whether the lenses we order is the real thing or not! (yeah got fakes out there???). Just give a big hot breath on your lenses and you will see the word CRIZAL appear! It goes back to normal after the temperature change. I can also spot it via putting it in the fridge and taking it out to see! (hahaha not advisable I think!).

love my glasses? guess what! I'm giving away one next week!

Stay tune for next week's post, I'm going to giveaway the same glasses I am wearing to a lucky reader! (if she's round shape face, even more awesome!). Yeah baybeh a pair of Solvil et Titus + Crizal Forte UV Lenses eyewear worth RM1k++ for a lucky reader!!!

Day 3: Chef Mickey Disney's Hollywood Hotel

    9.19.2013

Day 3 - Last Day at Disney's Hollywood Hotel

My 3-days, 2-nights stay in Hong Kong Disneyland has been a magical whirlwind of an adventure. I would have never thought I got the chance to visit Disneyland and Hong Kong at the same time. Living in Malaysia, my options has always been Thailand, Bali or Australia. I have been to all three countries but never further because I have one weakness beyond these region! The language barrier syndrome haha! Well okay I don't speak Thai either but it gets a bit wee stressful when you're a Chinese and you don't speak Chinese and you go off to a holiday escapade in a Chinese speaking land. It's going to be so weird because people there would be [hello how are you what do you want to eat?] and I will be either [nodding heads] [blinking eyes] [speaks back in English asking what?]. Not as bad as going to Thailand and get the "Sawadekap, Maam, howe u today".

Fortunately for me, my stress levels didn't go up that high in Hong Kong Disneyland because everyone here understands and speaks English! Well at least to everyone who has been serving and helping me around the Disneyland Resort and at the hotel. Feels just like home but not quite :D *happy*. Everyday has been all rainbows and clouds to me, just like in a real life Disney movie. Everyone is helpful, happy and there's so many Mickey Mouse toys around! I want them all from the soft toys to the cookies! The prices were affordable!!! I just wish I brought more Hong Kong Dollars to shop.

SO my last day at Disney's Hollywood hotel what do I do? I slept late the night before and got up for breakfast at Chef Mickey's Restaurant. Everyone who stays here would definitely not miss Mickey Mouse making an appearance during breakfast (children screams Mickey Mickey!!!). This is the only time Mickey will come and pose with you for pictures! Unfortunately, I must have missed the session because Mickey wasn't around when I was having breakfast. It's okay because I got to see him the day before at The Enchanted Garden Restaurant, Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel.

back to reality as a grown up

I stuffed myself silly with Mickey waffles and visit every buffet station I could! This is my last chance eating breakfast in a Mickey Mouse restaurant. The walls were filled with lovable Disney cartoons. I just wish I bought a big giant Mickey Mouse from the souvenir shop beside Chef Mickey, so I could have my very own Chef Mickey Mouse.

Thank you for the hospitality and the memories Hong Kong Disneyland! I'm going to go back home and tell everyone YES I HAVE BEEN TO DISNEYLAND and it's AWESOME! Must bring your kids and turn them into princesses yeah!

My Double Eyelid Stitching Experience Malaysia

    9.15.2013

    curious about double eyelid stitching?

I have always been curious about how life would be like if I was born with double eyelids instead of mono lids (single eyelids). It sure looks tempting each time I see Generation Girls or my friends wearing make up with that doll like eyes of theirs. Yes of course I have tried double eyelid stickers, tapes or glue. Tapes or stickers don't work on my fatty eyelids, it pops right out. Also I don't like the look of tape on my eyes, it's quite noticeable.

Taking a few months to consider, I have decided to take up the challenge to review a double eyelid procedure under the care of Dr. Rachel, Mediviron UOA. She has over 10 years of experience performing this procedure with a long list of clientele. This review will be showing how the double eyelid stitching was done and what are the results after. Hope you don't get spook out by the photographs, I wanted to show what goes on and the nurses helped capture the process.

    double eyelid cutting vs stitching

Before I show you the photographs, I would like to explain what is the difference between my double eyelid method and the traditional double eyelid method called blepharoplasty. Blepharoplasty is by cutting or making an incision to create the crease. The procedure is more complicated so it takes longer to complete. It is not reversible once the cut has been made and that leaves scarring. Other risks involved is bleeding, swelling, infection and pain. It also takes longer to heal because it is a cut.

My method on the other hand is called double eyelid stitching or suturing. It is easier to perform, faster and less bleeding and swelling compared to cutting. It is leaves little or no scarring, bleeding or pain. This method is more natural and is reversible!

Considering double eyelid stitching? It's best for people who:
    • never done eyelid surgery before
    • don't have fatty lids or a lot of skin on the lids
    • brows are not low / heavy
    • men who don't make up, so don't need to conceal the incisions
    • smokers, lower risk of scarring with this method
    • people who fears going to surgery
    • quick recovery
    • natural looking double eyelids

measuring my tasal plate to determine the stitching height

I did a lot of reading online before I was mentally and emotionally prepared for this double eyelid stitching procedure. I was scare of the pain but not worried about what will happened to my eyes because I was in good hands. Doctor has a lot of customers who recommends her for double eyelid stitching and cosmetic surgery. She is one hell of a friendly doctor as well so I was pretty much the nervous one meeting her instead of the procedure.

Of course I did weight the "accidents' that might happened and the pictures online scarred the hell out of me. Still I was confident nothing will happened to me (so brave right?). Check out my photographic journey of my double eyelid stitching procedure below and don't scream!

numbing cream applied for 1/2 hour
(because I have no balls for pain)

eyes feel numb & heavy after 30mins

before the procedure, lines are drawn first

it was all done in a sterile treatment room

first applying the yellow color liquid to disinfect & kill germs

then a plastic sheet over my face

ouch! yes I can feel the injection pain
(but thanks to numbing cream, it wasn't that horrible)

    doctor starts stitching my eyes
(I seriously don't feel any pain after being injected)

I didn't even know what she's doing to my eyes
(because my eyes don't feel any pain or sensation)

after 10mins,  doctor moves on to my other eye!
    (so dam fast right?)

let me show you how my left eye looks like
(you can see the stitching holes there)

my right eye swell easily, so doc has to apply pressure
    (yeah I bengkak easily haha)

doctor & nurse kept me feeling calm
(they know how scardy cat I am)

after the procedure, I was really "no energy"
(coz I kept thinking about omg something bad goin happen)

after cleaning my face, doctor checks my eyes
(my bengkak made it hard to assess my eyes)

but no worries bengkak (swelling) will be gone
after 1 - 2 weeks depending on people

i can't believe I am this brave! hahaha
THANKS DOCTOR! You've been a DOLL!!!

It was a quick procedure as you can see from my pictures. I was really happy they gave my eyes numbing creams so I won't feel pain during the procedure and during injection. Each eye received 2 injections that made the whole process bearable! It was a like walking through clouds until it's all over. I don't feel any pain other than the 1st injection on each eye which numbs the whole area completely. All I could feel through the process was tugging and pulling (the suturing being done). Doctor would ask me to open my eyes half way so she can check the stitching line.

I was seriously surprised that there's no feeling at all throughout the stitching process! No wonder so many Korean girls go for this method like drinking water (okay I am being drama here). I could go shopping after this too wearing my sunglasses like a diva. Doctor says I should come back after 1 - 2 weeks to let her check on my eyes because if I am not happy with the crease, she will correct it for me (weee! that's good right? instead of sorry already done, u pay again if u not happy). I should take antibiotics and inflammation pills and the swelling will subside after a week or two, depending on my healing capabilities. Some girls heal in a week! (amazing healing).

how my eyes look after 1 week

I went to Hong Kong Disneyland somore

after 3 weeks, the redness has gone

after a month, no swelling or bleeding!
(but still healing, I'm a slow healer)

can't wait to try one eyeliner to show off how it looks

me without make up single vs double eyelids
(sorry black & white pic okay?)

me with make up single vs double eyelids
(after a month, but now it looks very natural)

What do you think? Anyone got any comments? I'm prepare to hear what you think about my experience. I have friends who has been discouraging me not to go ahead with this double eyelid stitching procedure because they say I already have beautiful eyes and I should cherish what I have. I do respect your advises but I don't want to miss this chance. Plus the procedure can be done quickly and lesser downtime compared to the cutting method. It looks natural too because I didn't want to look like the "plastic surgery beauty clones". The process is also safe since there is no cutting involved (so friends don't worry please) and it is reversible if I want my mono lids back (still got way to return back).

Doctor is beautiful and friendly at the same time. I feel so comfortable being her patient. She checks everyday on my eyes after my surgery to see how am I doing on Whats App (chatting app on iphone). There are many doctors out there who could perform double eyelid surgery but finding the right doctor will make a whole lot of difference to the experience you go through. I hope if you are considering to go for double eyelid stitching, get a good doctor whom you feel comfortable. Of course having experience counts too!

I asked doctor how long can the stitching hold? She says it can take up to 10 years or longer depending on how strong the stitching is. Report says breakage or loss of fold is only 1% (10 years follow up study) in clients who go for this procedure.

doctor interviewed by NTV7 Bella Talkshow
hosted by Daphne Iking on August 6th 2012

This review will serve as an overview of double eyelid stitching and it is not as scary or painful as you think it is. In fact, laser therapy is more painful than double eyelid stitching procedure! Believe it or not haha. Leave me a comment or email me if you have any questions.
