    The Great Guardian Makeover 2014
yesterday at the My Date with Beauty with Illy

Since 2008, Guardian has been organizing this fun makeover event called The Great Guardian Makeover every year to make women look not only good, but feel good too. This year, they called it "My Date with Beauty". It's not a public event, shoppers has to spend min. RM20 above including one participating brand in a single receipt to be entitled to one makeover ticket at RM10 to join The Great Guardian Makover. Each makeover ticket entitles you to a makeover session, a photo session and a goodie bag. Over 1,500 shoppers took part and boy I didn't want to miss this out too since I have been going since 2008.

The make-up and hair styling is done by A Cut Above Academy who sent 20 hair stylists and make-up artists to makeover the shoppers while 18 brands participated in the brand to give shoppers a run for their money. Who are they brands? L'Oreal Paris, Maybelline New York, Alcon, Avene, Bio Essence, BioGrow Oat BG22, Biore, Blackmores, Brands, Dermatix, Enchanteur, Hada Labo, Nano White, Neutrogena, Nivea, Oslee, Palmer's and Safe.

Activities such as make-up demo, beauty tips, health and well-being talks along with special appearance by actor and singer Amaris Amran Ismail will keep shoppers busy this weekend. Guardian has also prepare two online contests (running period 5th April - 30th April) for their shoppers to win a designer bag worth RM1,640 and RM1,140.00 respectively.

    1. PhotoBox Contests on Facebook
Pose creatively with the the given props provided by Guardian at The Great Guardian Makeover, 1 Utama. Like Guardian Facebook page, look for your photo in the "Photo Box Contest" photo album. Tag yourself on the photo and upload it as your Facebook profile picture.

    2. Instagram Contest
Follow @guardianmalaysia, snap a selfie and submit the photo and in not more than 20 words tell Guardian "What makes you beautiful". Tag @guardianmalaysia and #GuardianBeauties.

P.S: Heard it's Kate Spade hehe.

My experience in a nut shell:

I have fun running around checking out all 18 participating brand stores at the event yesterday. There were so many people waiting to get their makeovers done so I decided to go try out other activities before the crowd started shifting it's attention elsewhere. My first stop was to get my photo taken at the Photo Box area, it was situated next to the stage in a hidden corner. Props were the usual head gears (Big Ribbon, Hats, Spectacles) and Guardian talk box props. I wish they could have been more creative with the head gear props. It would be nice to see a change for a while because I have been attending so many events as a blogger, the props usually are the same.

After having my photo taken, I went to see my butterflies from the Butterfly Project community on what they're doing. This year we were all invited again to experience the makeover session and I could see everyone is enjoying themselves getting pretty! Which make-up look you're going for asks Illy? There's two to choose from - nude / glam. I said I would go for nude since it's still 11am in the morning. A Cut Above also prepared hair style looks to be picked and I named them like so:

Long Hair Style: straight sleek, big wavy curls & braided bohemian goddess.
Short Hair Style: Spice Posh, wild thang & pixie

It would make such perfect timing to get makeovers and go enjoy our Saturdays with the girls in the city! Unfortunately, I am too tired to be out this weekend and has decided to stay home to finish off the remaining community projects and also planned for upcoming ones for my community. A day in a life of a community founder, there's just so much things to do but heck I'm enjoying them.

The best part of being in a Guardian event? The deals to shop for! Gosh it was just 18 participating brands but our hands were tied on deciding which ones to spend our money on. I had my eyes on Biore, Hada Labo, Oslee, Maybelline and Ma Cherie. What kind of deals? buy 1 free 1, up to 50% off, PWP and GWP. A lot of girls went for Biore facial cleansing wipes, Maybelline rocket mascara and lipsticks.

I purchase this Ma Cherie set for RM69.88 Guardian TTDI
(500ml shampoo, 200ml conditioner foc hair perfume)

Ma Cherie seems to be attracting a lot of attention with their promoter dressed as a princess giving samples gleefully! I got 2 samples from her and I rushed home to wash my hair because I need to decide if I should get the awesome Ma Cherie deals on shampoos and conditioners. The scent was pretty and sweet, I could not resist it! I feel this is just a basic hair care range that one can use daily. It does give the air feel sensation, my hair feels like Nike Air. I literally blow dry and ran out to the nearest Guardian to grab a shampoo set home. Now I am proud owner of a pretty pink bottle of shampoo and conditioner at home and it comes with a free hair perfume! Yeah man, hair perfume? LOL.
