My verdict? It's musky and feminine, just my kind of scent. The sweet musk of raspberry couple with vanilla almost smells like a hint of blueberry. Reminds me of Secret Wish by Anna Sui but better, more refine and tuned like a fair lady. Seriously loving this new perfume by Lancome. The cute purple rose tied to the flacon, just embodies Paris all over again. Highly recommended if you love musky scents and sweet smelling berries.

Really cute, I can't remember the price. It must have been around RM150 around? I just finished reading Dragon Head Manga today, all 10 chapters of it on my iPhone. It's a weird feeling having to read it all and ended up with an ending that I couldn't dare comprehend. This manga is about the world end tragedy of Japan. A boy name Teru and a girl Ako survived from day 1 of being stuck in a railway tunnel where their classmates and teachers died, till surviving outside with water, food and clothing supplies from stores and shops outside, somewhere along the story they encounter a human called "Dragon Head"and horrific nature disasters that seems to be of no end, almost devouring their country. Their final stance was in Tokyo, their home.

This manga reminds me the movie by Sylvester Stallone's Daylight and Lord Of The Flies. The human fear that brings out the worst in us. Recommended read if u have time to kill.

Every second day of Chinese New Year, me & my family will go to Coconut Flower Seafoods Restaurant, Telok Gong for seafood. Kenby joined me after texting to meet up for a movie, so I asked her to join us for lunch. It's just a short drive from my hometown Port Klang.

This place was really popular when they started 10 years back but ever since their prices soared up, many complained that this place is just average. They're also popular for the homemade Coconut Flower Wine (also called coconut tody) which I hear is quite a kick after a few bottles with crabs. I never dared try drinking it and the smell is awful to me. Imagine the overpowering scent of fermented coconuts?

While I agree that their prices are slightly higher than before and taste wise is just average, I still find it a convenient place to have seafood around my home, has menu in ENGLISH (coz I can't read Chinese) with photos on the board so it's easy to order especially for those who has no IDEA what to order and food comes fast.

For Chinese New Year, my brother ordered his favorite butter prawns RM25 (he has crab & clams phobia). My mom, sis & me are crab-eaters so we got the medium sized crabs for 1kg cooked in kam heong, a spicy dish which my mom couldn't take it anymore after the first bite. I wanted Shark's Fin Soup RM60 (serves 6-8 bowls) and the famous steam lala in Chinese wine that I've been reading about online. However it taste weird maybe because of the Chinese wine (I hardly eat anything cooked in Chinese wine so...). The lala meehon was nice for RM6, full of small lalas. Overall not bad, our bill for 5 pax comes up to RM213.00 (with 6% service charge) inclusive of many coconuts and drinks to quench our thirsts. If we didn't order Shark's Fin Soup, the bill would be cheaper.

Since young I have always been a fan of comic books, then manga. The comic strips tone and effect also fascinates me and today I tried to turn one of my recent camwhore pic (taken by iPhone4) into a comic book effect. It's also great to turned them into retro looking images, just like MAC Cosmetic's Wonder Woman collection (2011).

It took me about rougly 30mins to try this out. I used the tutorial from Photoshop Road Map. There's a lot of tutorials out there besides the one I found, just google Photoshop Comic Book Effect and you'll find something cool to follow :)

I thought of many ideas that I could do with the marshmallows like surprisingly my handsome guy with a cup of hot chocolate and have the love shape marshmallows float about in it. Just imaging the foam and the chocolate with sweet marshmallows makes me want to eat it myself! WHICH I DID! omg.. so no more love marshmallows for my guy coz I'm already eating it. Yum yum!!! some say the don't like marshmallows but call me crazy, I think I watch too many American movies where people like to eat them with hot chocolate or any type of hot drinks? grilled or barbeque or make smores with them. In fact, my Vila Manja birthday spa party I ate marshmallows dip in melting chocolate! The love shaped marshmallows are strawberry flavored. The scent is faint and the taste is light and sweet. It's not overly strawberry taste like some cotton candy or medicine strawberry. However taste may differ from one to another. For me it taste great :) and it's chewy and yummy till I finished a box. I love the shape... if not for the shape I won't find it interesting at all!

My Kinetin Journey: Story Continues!

Happy New Year!!! I can't believe it's the year 2012 already! a whole new chapter a whole new beginning! what's your new year resolution this year? mine is to be young always (not only inside but outside too). Thanks to the K.I.S.S program, I was given an opportunity to experience a skincare that contains an anti-aging ingredient called Kinetin. Just a short introduction:

You will probably be asking what's the difference now in just 4 weeks of using Kinetin? well here's a photo that shows my week 1 profile (before) and week 4 (after). In my previous video (click here to watch) Dr. Koh says I could see results after 4 weeks. My own self-evaluation, I say yes! thought I have always look young and flawless, my friends couldn't see what's up close and personal with my skin. There's pigmentation, wrinkles around my eyes and my skin was dull and lack luster. With 4 weeks of usage, I began to see my skin improving. It's dewier, evenly tone, supple and my pigmentation is less significant!

Yesterday I met 20 people that I have been thinking about. It was time to catch up and share a bit of the things I love to do to with my friends and young padawans. This is our first group photo snapped by my Canon 550D camera (on timer mode) - which turned out perfect! love it to bits. I will talk more about my birthday spa-rty soon! I don't know what it is that makes me go crazy whenever I stepped into a La Senza store. Perhaps it's the candy filled fun girly posters or hot pink lingerie calling me. Naughty Nuri's is one of the must visit and eat place in Ubud, Bali. They're popular for their wicked barbecue pork ribs in special sauce. My bf and I agreed it was the best thing that happened to us in Bali. We wanted more! but alas we didn't have time to revisit the place again. How to get to this place? we tried to walk there from Monkey Forest Road but it took too long and then it started raining so we got a taxi to drive us there. Best to just have your tour guide/driver drop you here for lunch after or before tours around Ubud.

Naughty Nuri's a street side food haven, for Rp85,000 (about RM30) you get a plate of pork ribs enough to fuel you for the day. The succulent juicy meat in between the ribs just leaves you craving for more. The sauce is finger lickin good! I wonder what's in the recipe. Better than Tony Roma's Beef Ribs (even if it's beef). A must eat in Ubud, Bali! Don't miss it out.

K.I.S.S 12 week trial program

Yes so I got selected to participated in the K.I.S.S 12 week trial program, among a group of five people from four countries in Asia (Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan). What's K.I.S.S? well in short it's a 12 week trial program where I use an anti-aging product that contains Kinetin in my daily skincare regime to help improve my skin concerns.

What? I am young and shouldn't worry about aging? No that's a misconception that just because you're not old you're not aging. Everyone ages! Today I went to Marie France Bodyline Mid Valley to collect my prize from wining the Marie France Bodyline 30 days Bloggers Challenge! When I got the letter, I was very happy. The first treatment I did was Guam Body Treatment (GBT). I was given a tummy & thigh medicated mud mask for 20mins and it was so itchy. Hope my skin can tahan it the next time I do again. Then my deep detoxifying massage began (35mins) and wow very painful massage. I tried to tahan again coz I wanna be slim. After all slimming massage is to help break fats and soften our tough meat so I must tahan! I wonder what I will do on Wednesday. Perhaps try something else with machine.

Life isn't all peachy for Miu. Sometimes she gets so busy she can't even go out anymore from her cage! *meow* so what's a kitty to do? send for help! For the Shills Meet Beauty Bloggers Event, I've sent a SOS to my girlfriend Hannah to be my guest blogger! it's her first time attending such an event! Check out her post on the Shills Beauty Blogger Event, it's so darn pink!!! I love it!

Early last month, I had an opportunity to attend this terrific beauty event at Berjaya Times Square. During this collaborated event by SHILLS and Sakae Sushi in a late afternoon, everybody had some fun time getting to know about the brands' latest "movements". For SHILLS it was their latest star products while for Sakae Sushi it was their new iPad Ordering System - Malaysia's very 1st.

I remember seeing SHILLS products being introduced and recommended on Taiwanese show 女人我最大. And apparently it made an impression on my Mom too because when we last shopped together at Times Square there was this rented stall SHILLS had to promote their merchandise. At that time, their star product used to be this thing called Bamboo Charcoal Black Mask? Mom was really tempted to try it out with the promotional price and all, but she passed it up after all.

Having attended this event I've learned that SHILLS has moved on to quite some extent. They now have several new star products from different categories. Some are for body, some for face; some are skincare/bodycare, some lean more towards cosmetics. Anyway, there was this SHILLS girl who was very nice and friendly, let me try every product that interested me haha.

And on beautiful Esther too :)

Actually met up with Esther before we headed to the event's venue together, mingled a tiny bit and the presentation to introduce all the new star products began.

I figured can never be as pretty as Esther so I'll just be ugly lah.

There were quite a few products being introduced to the audience but the ones that caught most of my attention are gonna be listed down below:

1. -5°C Ice Whitening Skin Renewal Spray

I know the claim saying that this will drop your skin temperature by 5 degree Celsius might raise your eyebrows by 45 degrees, but this really is a very cooling, very icy spray that I picture will be of great great use during a vacation in a summery destination.

Containing Hyaluronic Acid, Silk extract (both for good hydration), Arnica extract (for promoting blood circulation and anti-inflammatory properties) and Grapeseed extract (as a dose of antioxidant), this spray cools your skin off hence is able to tighten your pores, provides sebum control and is hydrating at the same time! Spray this on your body or on a cotton pad to apply on your face before make-up, and it shall prep your pores to be smaller in appearance, less oily and your skin will feel super cool.

I'm not sure if it precisely decreases skin temperature up to -5°C but it really does leave my skin surface much much cooler and the best part is that the coolness remains for, I'd say, at least 10 minutes. When one of the staff sprayed a good amount of this on the back of my hand, this spray actually turned into a piece of white ice 0_0 and dissolved into liquid the next few seconds. I know right, shocking. From the goodie bag each of us received during the event, I got this among some other stuff and now I can't wait to try spraying it on everybody hahaha

2. Quick Clean Gentle Body Exfoliater (Cleanses, Peels && Brightens)

Was quite fond of this Gentle Body Exfoliater as well since I thought this would be one of the easiest ways to execute an all-body exfoliation. Also a spray but the product comes out as a super fine greyish foam that you can apply on wherever you need; rub it in and dark-coloured flakey residue will appear.

My high school Science teacher used to tell us all about the various benefits and possible usage of papaya enzyme, said it's extremely good for skin and even for weight reducing, albeit I don't know how. Nonsense aside, this exfoliater contains papaya enzyme as well as pumpkin enzyme and hamamelis extract to gently melt dead skin cells away and provide skin with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory goodness.

3. BB Dewy Cream SPF50 PA+++

Finally here comes my favourite!!!

To be honest this BB cream kinda rocks. No greyishness for the first half an hour, no risk of applying too much = no risk of having thick mask-like face make up. Applies like a dream with a very interesting texture. Once you let it set, it feels very smooth, looks very smooth, not sticky at all. I cannot say enough good things about it, my bf even thinks it looks better than Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua 0_0.

The only downside to some people might be the coverage and amount of product needed. Compared to using my other BB creams, I apply quite a lot of this product, in several layers (depending on how much time I have in the morning and how much coverage I need). I would say it isn't a full coverage BB cream, but it is buildable. And even when you build the layers up, it hardly cakes. The fact that it doesn't cake up is extremely convenient for me because I wouldn't have to think while doing my face. Super duper love.

After the event, all the bloggers got treated to a savoury meal at Sakae Sushi...... (to be continued)

DAY 2: GOOD MORNING BALI

The next day we woke up at 8am, pack our bags and left our rooms to go for our breakfast (came with the stay). I love Purik Manik Cottage's two-storied Balinese Houses, green walls and lush tropical gardens. There's a swimming pool at the back but it looks old. The beds are not comfortable and the bathrooms are gloomy. My flush's broken. The good thing is it's cheap, has room air conditioning and the location is great (nearby Monkey Forest, Ubud Market, shops).

Anyone interested to stay here just for a night if there's no other choices can go to their website to check out more info. I did my booking via www.booking.com and paid only USD30 for a night's stay. I check in at night and the staffs knew I was coming! (great job). I heard stories where people didn't know where to check in at night or if they manage to find the place at night, the hotel lost their booking. Well stories from the Internet. The cottage has van drivers who was nice enough to drop us off at our next hotel, the Royal Kamuela Villas, Monkey Forest Road. The Villa is conveniently located next to Monkey Forest (popular tourist sight seeing spot) and 5 mins from Ubud central market. It's walking distance to all restaurants, shops and bars.

It was too early to check in so we left our luggages and head off for some Ubud sightseeing. It's Day 2 and on our itinerary? Ubud Market, Ubud Palace, Monkey Forest, Temples and Cultural sight seeing by ourselves. Also must eat on this day - Ibu Oka (babi guling for brunch), Warung Nuris (late lunch), Bebek Benggil (dirty duck dinner) and Cafe Wayan (cakes for supper).

While walking around Ubud, we notice many colorful packets of what seems to be flowers, rice, misc things on a banana leaf basket. Obviously handmade. Culture shock here! we see them on the streets, on houses, shops, vehicles almost everywhere. It's called "Canang Sari", Canang means small coconut leaf basket and Sari means Essence. In Bali, it's a daily routine to have these offerings for peace and wealth. We were careful not to step on the offerings but it seems some has been damaged by tourists or dogs. There's quite a number of dogs in Ubud (they come out at night to bark at people).

We didn't buy anything from Ubud Market, saving ourselves for Sukawati Market just outskirts of Ubud instead (Day 4). It was also going to rain (again Nov is not the season to visit). Our tummies were rambling already so next on our to see was Ibu Oka for famous babi guling (nearby walking distance). The Ubud Palace is opposite Ibu Oka and there's a public hall just right before Ibu Oka where Balinese people gather around to dance and train.

Our first taste of babi guling. It's wet and sloppy because of the sauces. We ordered the Rp50k set which comes with rice, vegetable soup and complete meat (like a meat sampler). My boyfriend wanted to try Bali Coffee Rp15k but had no comments on it. I don't quite like it but its an experience. Do try the "Kulit" dish Rp40k (roasted pork skin), it's crunchy like roast duck skin but harder. Lots of people eat here including locals as well. However it's a road side restaurant, cleanliness is subjective. U have been warn.

December is here but I am so broke due to the holiday trips I took this year that for December, I can't shop like crazy and the urges are killing me. Everyday I can't stop thinking about splurging at a face/body shop and carrying heaps of bags home to put under the Christmas tree. Anyway I had to still buy something to cheer myself up. I was at Mid Valley so I dropped by my favorite bath shop Loccitane and grabbed the limited edition Christmas set "Delice Delight" RM120. Of all the juicy sets and sales, I picked this one because it features the latest products from Loccitane and it comes with a cute candy pouch. I am waiting for the charity candle RM12 but Loccitane says it's not out yet (as usual, takes some time for them to stock, may as well don't print the available dates on the brochures).

Dec, Magazine Hauls

Then I dropped by Gardens Borders after watching Twilight: Breaking Dawn. Yes I love this recent installment of Twilight. It's better than the last one. I find the honeymoon to be so romantic and Bella's so happy. Then boom she got pregnant with a "thing" and it might be like a devil thing (her new vamp family is worried about this) or it might be a beautiful thing. No spoilers here go see the movie yourself. It's December, so I just had to buy the magazines to read for this year. Been missing out a lot.

Lastly, I was browsing a comic bookstore in Curve at night while my boyfriend is "yumcha-ing" with his pals. Suddenly saw Paradise Kiss Japanese Movie DVD on the shelves! Paradise Kiss was a popular fashion manga I loved years back, they made anime out of it too. Gosh what have I been missing out on this year.

We arrived at the Ngurah Rai Airport, Denpasar Bali about 7.30pm and there our driver was waiting with my boyfriend's name BRICK1235 on a white board. Well BRICK1235 is his nick name on icq when he couldn't register for brick. The number combo was his best friend Henry's house phone digits. Weird right? Bro-mance is strong. Our driver's name is Badra. He's sent by Pak Wayan who operates this tour driver thingy. Recommended by Shantini (Cas). Initially I approached another driver referred by my staff Chee Ling but that driver had the nerve to charge me 270k rupiah compared to Pak Wayan's price of 220k for airport - Jimbaran - ubud trip. It was only a 20mins drive to Jimbaran at night. We arrived at Lia Cafe, famously spoken off by bloggers all around. They had reasonably priced seafood compared to the "tourist traps" around Jimbaran. I had a bad experience on my 3rd day in Bali, I told my driver to get us to Lia Cafe and they "innocently" brought me to another place not knowing I have already been here on my 1st day. The price at that crazy place was three times the price at Lia Cafe. It was more expensive than KUALA LUMPUR! Seeing us piss off, the waiter tried to bargain and give us a "discounted" package, which was still higher than Lia Cafe! So I highly recommend people to go Lia Cafe for a taste of grilled seafood by the beach side.

I fell in love with Jimbaran straight away. It was so romantic and it was not raining. It's wet season which means raining anytime and a lot of times. Not a good month to go. Definitely enjoyed my first night in Bali by going straight to Jimbaran from the airport. The candle flickering on our table, the sandy beach, my first sip of the infamous Bintang Beer everyone talks about, my delicious grilled crab (all mine) - it was perfect.

Not wanting to choose Package C Rp 350K where people said it was only baby lobsters (crayfish) we went for the ultimate package called Lia Package Rp800 (roughly RM240). Obviously we wanted the 1kg lobster. Thank goodness the set comes with other dishes! 2 large Bintangs, 2 french fries, soup salad, vegetable, rice, sauces, and fruits for desserts. They gave us free prawns! The clams were good (has chilli and lime sauce on it) ! I missed eating the clams.

After stuffing ourselves silly with our lobster set, we finally jump back on the van and head to Ubud. It took about an hour to reach. A week earlier, I booked one night at Purik Manik Cottages through booking.com. It was real cheap, USD30 a night. Here's a video of Purik Manik Cottages. Beautiful, lush green around. The rooms are small, not sound proof and the toilets are gloomy. My flush was broken. We met a tourist here, she stayed 6 nights!

After dumping our luggage, we went for a brief walk around the area. Very dark, feels kinda unsafe, We went to K-Mart to get some drinks and then back to the cottage to sleep. That's all for my first night in Bali. Love the seafood in Jimbaran.

My dandruff is going crazy atm. I've tried so many types of shampoo now, I'm beginning to give up. Maybe I should go back to using Kiehl's Dandruff Shampoo, that really control my dandruff for a while but it made my hair really dry so I didn't like that part. Well all dandruff shampoos make our hair dry because of the ingredients used to combat the dandruff. I found this Himalaya Anti-Dandruff Hair Oil in my bathroom today. I didn't know it was new until I try to use it.

Frustrating, I spend like more than 5 mins trying to get it to open. The cap is fine but the inside? there's a plastic stopper where you have to pierce through so that the liquid could come out. Mind you the tiny hole in that part, you gotta be kidding me. Where on earth can I find something thicker than a needle point but not too thick like chopsticks to go in? In the end, I kinda destroyed the plastic stopper using chopsticks. Messy.

Finally the oil is coming out. Smells like baby oil and it's not greasy like cooking oil or body oil. It's a light weight herbal oil that's not sticky with Tea Tree Oil (anti-bacteria) and Neem (anti dandruff action) to clear the dandruff flakes from hair. My hair is oily now and I look like this swim suit model just fresh from the waters. Definitely cannot go out unless I look sexy with this kinda image. My treatment room is cosy with everything lined up ready for me. I changed into my disposable panties and my masseuse came in. My treatment started with a body massage to which I request for a just back massage, as my back was all tensed up. Vitamin rich aromatic botanical essential oil was used to massage my back. It was pure bliss. I dozed off after a few minutes.

I awoke to find my masseuse all ready to scrub my body using fruits and flower enriched natural marine sea salt. The aromatic scent of fruit extracts and flowers provided me with the aromatherapy benefits I needed to de-stress and open up my senses. What could be more.... heavenly than a bubble bath with hot drink and biscuits waiting for me?

My plane was delayed again by Air Asia (due to bad weather) but this time I wasn't stranded in some airport for hours. I reached home at 3am this morning *yawn* and the flight was cramp and uncomfortable, I wish I could just have back massage right there n then in the plane. Perhaps Air Asia can make a mini spa chair in the plane next time and have air stewardess trained to give massage. You can charge pre-booked massages at RM100 for 10mins (since we are on international air already) and those who did not pre-book, must pay RM150 for 10mins of back massage. Back massage comes with hot drink and a packet of nasi lemak.

Maybe should throw in a photo taking session of you doing massage on a plane with Air Asia (RM50).

An overview of my shopping haul from various places in Bali. First Bintang Beer is a dam nice beer (for me, maybe not for u) only sold in Bali? (I think so). They cost between IDR20k - IDR25K (sizes). They are under Heineken? which explains why the beer taste almost like Heineken. It's smooth and light, think Shandy + Heineken but lighter. My first drink in Bali = Bintang Beer, I was like "Omg I lurve this man" while eating my seafood at Jimbaran.

Sukawati Market - great place to hunt for bargains

Sukawati (popular bargain wholesale market)

You can guess as much I wanted to bring Bintang Beer back but without the alcohol, so I bought t-shirts for my brother, sis & bf (s to xxxl sizes available! but quality varies from one shop to another). Most ciplak would cost 30k (without bargaining at Sukawati market) and the good ones cost around 100k (at air-conditioned tourist trap shops). I got 4 shirts for 40k each (after bargaining down from 70k). The Bintang Beer holders (since I can't bring back the beer itself) will be great beer holders to pretend I am drinking Bintang Beer. A packet of 6 costs 70k at Sukawati Market, I bargained n bought 3 packs for 80k (RM28++ each).

Then comes the Frangipani flower (common flower in Bali, smells lovely). Tourists are wearing the Frangipani flower hair clips wherever they go and in the temples they bless you with this flower (real flower, put at your hair). First price 25k, I bargained until 18k for a box of 9 large flower hair clips. She was really hesitant about lowering her price, but I told her I'll buy 6 boxes for 18k per pack (rm6.30). Other shops offered me 20k (best price) per pack. Made of sponge.

The same shop I bought my Bintang Beer shirts, is where I bargained for the nice Balinese Bags (idk what to call them). The original price for each bag was 75k each. The lady was nice enough to lower until 20k (her best price, citing morning no one else has shop at her stall). I had a budget so I told her I would only buy 1 bag since that was her best price. If she lowered to 18k each, I would buy 15 bags from her. After spending around 30mins bargaining and exchanging sad faces, we agree on the price and I paid 270k for it (RM95 /RM6.30 each).

I could do better but I ain't a bargain fighter u see, so I bargain what I thought would be reasonable for both parties. If I was a bargain queen, I probably bought the cans for free and give her the shirt I am wearing.

Lastly, I looked everywhere for a spa shop (not many, mostly are selling arts and crafts). There was one particular shop that sells wholesale price aromatherapy spa products. A group of aunties was there too buying their stuffs. My boyfriend told me this shop would be the best bet coz:

aunties being aunties would have scouted the entire place already
they would stop at the best price places as well after scouting

And coz yes we did too search around n find that this place was the most affordable around the area. Their prices could not be bargained as well coz they said they're the lowest due to being wholesale price. They are right because everywhere else I went, their price was the best so far compared. There's so many spa gifts to choose from! the pre-gift sets were ranging from 15k-20k for a hand held medium sized boxed with around 5 or more varieties inside. I bought the set which has almost everything I needed for 15k each. The same set was being sold for over 50-70K each in different stalls at Sukawati.

Unlike the 3rd day tour trip where my scumbag tour guide took me to a tourist trap (when I asked for Sukawati, he said not to go there n didn't want to bring me there!). He brought me to a shop after Kintamani where I paid 55k for a bottle of massage oil (when it's sold here at Sukawati at 10k, however quality wise maybe not the same) and 59k for Essential Oil set. You know it's a TOURIST VENUS FLY TRAP if you spot these:

air conditioned shop
no balinese people around except for the sales person
your TOUR GUIDE/DRIVER brings u there
a lot of ang mohs (Caucasian tourists) inside
many more unconfirmed theories like "I bring u to QUALITY/FRESH PLACE" to justify the huge price difference.

Moral of the story? DO NOT TRUST YOUR TOUR GUIDE with anything that concerns MONEY. They get commissions from leading "tourists" into the traps! so they'll say whatever they want and can to make us go there. Even including it in the "tour itinerary". INSIST on going to Sukawati, it should be the place for you to get souvenirs and no where else!

Kuih Lapis from Kuta

My bf bought "Kuih Lapis" (layer cake) from Kuta (on our 4th day with a different driver). The driver brought us there citing it's "famous" (no idea why). A box of Kuih Lapis cost 90k (RM32) which I think was crazy but after seeing 1/3 size kuih lapis sold pre-packed at airport for USD3 (RM10++) I guess my bf's huge cake was alright? I tasted the kuih lapis and it was different (less sugary/eggy/buttery). It smells great though after being boxed up, u can smell the aroma in the car and back home. However taste wise can be subjective (I think it's tasteless). Few reasons why it was popular (I asked the lady boss & driver):

freshly baked everyday
they export the cakes to Asean countries
could be healthy kuih lapis? (since not so sugary/eggy/buttery)
not many bakery sell kuih lapis in Bali? (driver told us) this was the most convenient shop in Bali to get it

The shop PT. Surya Bali is run by a lady boss name July, she's indo-chinese and she is also a licensed money changer, sells all sorts of things in her shop including biscuits and kuih lapis. They pack the cakes nicely in boxes and string them for easy hand carry into planes. Very convenient. I bought 3 biscuits box for 100k, another just for 30k. Choose any types of biscuits in the shop so I got one coconut, two types of corn snacks and another type of biscuit (no idea what it is but taste nice).

On our 3rd day trip with our "best" tour guide. He brought us to a spice and coffee farm to buy Luwak Coffee. He was really happy bringing us here and one of his best "tourist" quote whole day was to say "If you are happy, I am happy". I translated this to if we are happy, we believe him more and we spend more money and he becomes happy because he gets commissions more too. I don't know if this place sells genuine Luwak Coffee, I tried the coffee it just tasted like normal black bitter coffee. My bf paid 500k (rm176) for 200grms of Luwak Coffee Beans. A small glass of Luwak Coffee is 50k at this place. I bought Lemongrass Tea 200grms for 30k. They gave me a free Pure Ginger Tea 50gr after refusing to give me a discount for our purchases.

Rest of the products sold here was aromatherapy, spa and coffee/tea products. Price ranges from 30k to 1million rupiah (depending on sizes and types). My bf tried the Luwak Coffee in Vietnam before and it's different from here. When he question the salesgirl, she said it's because theirs is manually made (is there a difference? I though it's civet cat made).

Duty Free Airport?

Not everything is duty free like the cosmetics and perfume? same price as Malaysia and they are in USD. The alcohol and cigarettes are duty free. One of the reasons why my boyfriend bought the Johnny Walkers (USD41 each) and got a free Johnny Walker trolley bag. There's a lot of things to buy at the airport from Gucci to Swarovski Crystals to more souvenirs at crazy prices.

But among those, I think what was really interesting was the Say N Go (voice solution system). It was like futuristic betul when she showed me at a roadshow. This is something I want to share! I love love love them!!! so many things I could do with them! like give them away as party favors. Uniqlo launch it's fifth and final Fall/Winter 2011 collection last month September, 2011 at Uniqlo KLCC (also recently expanded to serve more customers yay!) The store was closed for a media pre-launch of the new collection which introduces the Fall/Winter collection in black, dark brown, mud, claret, Prussian blue and Russian green (all the fall colors that I love!). The avant-garde blend of poetic, ethereal and aerial forms with enriched, contemporary cotton and precious woolen fibres bring life the elegant, formal, and tailored universe of Fall/Winter 2011 Collection, infused with the know-how of casual wear. Elegantly shaped down-jackets that express a strong couture spirit are smart yet cozy, perfect for a winter cocktail. Dresses are straight cut, space-age style with visible 3D seams. Edgy skirts feature cubic outlines. Cool knitwear adds a splash of vitamin colors. Men's suits created in soft flannel, with special, light-weight tailoring, represent fine craftsmanship and design.
