  • My Review on Transitions Signature Lenses

    2.28.2015

the lenses that works like a light switch dimmer
    for your ultimate convenience

So it's been two months that I'm wearing my Burberry frames fitted with Crizal's latest lenses, the Transitions Signature lenses now even better with Chromea7 technology. For all you four eye geeks out there, it means the shade changing lenses are now even more responsive to light anytime and anywhere to give you the right vision your eyes need. Call it the one lens to rule them all, Lord of the Lenses style haha. If Frodo Baggins needed glasses, I would recommend this to him for his outdoor adventure across the Shire, into the dark woods and at times when he puts on the "ring" his vision would still be clear thanks to the continuously adaptive Transition Signature lenses.

Click here to read my previous post on Transition Signature lenses and the exclusive Chromea7™ photochromic technology.

fully clear indoors, optimal tint outdoors
    indoor clarity: clear
    outdoor clarity: dark

speed to darken: fast to activate

The past few months, I was selfie-ing myself wearing my new frames indoor and outdoor, experimenting with different aspect of lighting. I have a pair of transition lenses myself but compared to this latest lenses which is a marriage between Crizal and Transitions, I now have super crystal clear lenses that darkens to the brown in a matter of seconds. Faster than my old transition lenses, it's just like a light switch dimmer where it automatically adjusts your vision under UV light. Perfect for indoor and outdoor usage, these lenses are like I say more responsive than ever thanks to Chromea7™ photochromic technology. Reactive to UV light, they get darker in conditions under bright sun, partially sunny, cloudy, and everything in between. They also adapt to indirect light, say reflected from buildings, cars and other surfaces. They continuously adapt to changing light so they’re always exactly the shade you need them to be.
    • Fully clear indoors and at night
    • Fast fade back speed
    • Block 100% of UVA & UVB rays
    • Fit any prescription and frame
    • Suitable for any age including children
two shade changing colours to choose from:
    Clear to Gray or Brown

    My verdict:

In comparison with my old transitions lenses, I find that the new Transitions Signature lenses are faster at changing from clear to dark in a matter of seconds. I love how fast it respond to light conditions around me. Makes me feel like I'm from X-Men only.

On top of that, because it's a Crizal Transition Signature lenses I still get the awesome benefits that Crizal lenses gives - smudge free, dust free, waterproof, scratch free, glare free and of course the best, UV protection from both sides of the lenses so your eyes are protected from the harmful effects of the sun. Call that sunblock for your eyes haha.

Say if you're serious about protecting your eyes and giving what your eyes deserves (we only have one pair of eyes please don't be "kiamsiap" a.k.a cheapskate stingy) I would highly recommended that you go for the best of both worlds with Transitions Signature lenses. A little self indulgence once a while that gives you the quality, convenience and comfort your eyes need goes a long way.  I'm saying this because I am a walking testimonial of a 4 eye geek who has been wearing glasses since I was 6 years old and my lenses are always the best ones there is and they last for the longest time.

    Hello Tammy Lim Instagram

    2.25.2015

    add me in instagram readers!

Hola readers, I have a new instagram handle now, it's no longer @tammy_miu (kinda hate the underscore thing). Look for @hellotammylim which I think its kinda cool for some reason. I'm also obsessed with playing filters on my photographs taken with my iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 (loan by Warren Lee the #techloanshark). You can see most of my #projecthometown photographs taken with iPhone 6 on my instagram. I absolutely love iPhones camera, they take amazing photographs even in low light.

Oh and if you're wondering what's with the green mint wig, it's my favourite colour besides black (well black isn't a colour). I took these selfies on 31.10.14 (Halloween's Day), getting ready for the Kracie "Kawaii" Halloween Party at Fullhouse, Sunway Pyramid. Decided to go for the Japanese (bare beauty) look with a green mint wig like an anime character. Just when I walked into Sunway Pyramid, everyone turned around to stare at this "girl". Oh well, once a while it's great to be in character and have fun. That's life right?

I also got a new photograph alias, tlci which is short for my full name

The Boathouse Meatology Media Launch by Chef Yenni Law

    2.21.2015

    the magic of photoshop

I think if you asked what my hobbies are, it would be spending money on food, shopping, travels and when I'm not spending money around TTDI, it would be playing around with Adobe Photoshop on my Macbook Air. I'm a self taught Adobe Photoshop girl, a penchant developed when I got my first computer and dive into the world of designs, particularly in web. When I am in the mood, which always happens after midnight, I'll be playing with images taken either by my Canon 550D or iPhone. Nowadays my Canon 550D is going wonkers so I use my iPhone as camera.

Yesterday night, I was editing the images from a cookbook media event by Chef Yenni Law of The Boathouse, situated at the famed nightspot strip along Lorong Rahim Kajai 14 in Taman Tun Dr Ismail. The cookbook is titled Meatology (RM39.90) under the MPH Masterclass Kitchens series.

Chef Yenni Law launches her cookbook "Meatology"

Now being a resident here has made me fallen in love with the community. When I received the invitation from MPH to join the media launch of this cookbook, my face lighted up at the thought of getting to know Boathouse closely. The invitation came with a homemade sambal in a glass jar, tied with a ribbon and menu highlighting the various dishes that's going to be served at the launch, picked from the cookbook itself.

meet Chef Yenni Law, co-owner of The Boathouse, TTDI

True enough, I got to know Chef Yenni Law (40 years old) personally at this launch where she shared her tales of being a chef from helping her mother in the kitchen as a child, to going abroad in Europe and returning to Malaysia become a chef and co-owner of Boathouse. Now her life long dream of writing her own cookbook which wasn't an easy feat as she manages her business, has come true thanks to MPH after a year and a half of experimenting various meat and seafood recipes in her kitchen. In her cookbook Meatology, readers are introduced to 28 recipes from easy to do recipes till being shown various cuts of meat and how to trim tenderloins, fillet a salmon, French-trim lamb chops and cut a chicken.

Chef Yenni Law advises start with something relatively lightweight, like Tuna Niçoise and Seared Cod with Roasted Pepper Pesto and Caramelised Lemon Rings, then move on to the heavy stuff like Beef Wellington and Baked Barbecue Beef Short Ribs. As a bonus you can also learn how to make Boathouse's beef prosciutto for a salad with rocket and apple to surprise your guests.

my very own copy of the signed Meatology cookbook by Chef Yenni Law

Truly enjoyed the pleasant afternoon of dining in The Boathouse at the launched of Chef Yenni Law's cookbook, Meatology. I had a great time having my taste buds tantalised throughout the play of meats and sauces of every dish. My favourite has got to be the Braised Black mussels in Spicy Tomato Concasse which I had heaps of helpings. It's also the easiest recipe in the Meatology cookbook to prepare said Chef Yenni Law. The soft succulent juicy mussels were deliciously bathed in the spicy tomato  sauce. I couldn't get enough off it and will try to get my hands to make one myself soon.

the dishes served here is from this cookbook

If you're a fan of The Boathouse and or meats, then look out for the Meatology cookbook by Chef Yenni Law. It's available at The Boathouse and MPH outlets at RM39.90 containing 28 recipes of meats and seafood with various cooking styles. Most recipes are mains for a single serving. Thank you MPH and The Boathouse for inviting me over.

Review: Flash Tattoos from Shiny Happy People

    2.19.2015

the hottest trend hitting Kuala Lumpur

I discovered a new thing last month called flash tattoos or flashtats in short. It's this new trend of body accessory, well body art to be correct hitting the scene thanks to Beyonce. Remember when we were young, we often play with those stick on or transferrable tattoos and pretend we are the cool kids (okay some of you pretended to be gangsters). Now these sticker tattoos are back and unlike conventional sticker tattoos that we remembered, these are like *BAM* holy *&^$%&* cool. Find them in gold or silver, they shine like Avatar haha.

meet Michelle from Happy Shiny People

Recently I met up with Michelle from Shiny Happy People and now we are friends *smiles*. She contacted me to review her flashtats and being the busy body that I am, I asked her to meet me and tell me all about it. She entertained my request *lol* showed up with a few sheets of flash tattoos and demonstrated on her hand how easy it is to apply your very own beautiful jewellery inspired temporary tattoos in metallic finishing. You can pretty much guess why her shop's name is Shiny Happy People :)

I picked a sheet of flashtats for RM20

in a matter of seconds to put on

So how does it work? easy. First pick the designs you want from Shiny Happy People, cut around that particular design, peel the transparent sticker off, positioned it at the spot you want to show off (the white facing you), use a wet cotton or tissue and dab on the sticker. Make sure it's entirely wet or you'll end up with an incomplete transfer. Slowly lift the sticker away, revealing a beautiful metallic tattoo!.

before & after of my first flashtat!
(I think it's super sexy on the neck)

Now it lasts 4 - 6 days depending on how well you care for your flash tattoos. Mine lasted more than a week, even when I shower :) The secret to maintaining your flashtat is not to place it on areas where the design would be disturbed by movement and avoid rubbing or water contact too much. To remove, simply use oil or oil based make up remover to gently clean it away. Yeap it's that easy :)

I love matching my style with flashtats!

designs that I want to stock up (suka feathers)

I'm currently obsessed with decorating my body with flashtats because I find them so much fun to play with. It's easy to put on and I could always change my mind and remove them, unlike permanent tattoos. Call it the pain-free, easy flashy temporary tattoos!. Michelle has many designs to choose from her store click here and she is offering my readers 10% OFF just by using this special code PSK10 during checkout. Have fun creating your own designs by combining one or more flashtats designs and showing them off and FYI NO I'm not paid to say all this :)

Bene Premium Bluria & Rougeria Review

    2.17.2015

I'm back with tried & tested reviews!

Hello readers! Yes I promise that I will do a review on the Bene Premium Bluria and Rougeria range from my last update on the introduction of a new hair care brand from MoltoBene into Malaysia that's free from silicone! If you missed that post, click here to read it before reading this review. You'll be better equipped with the understanding of what makes this range, unique from other drug store hair care brands in the market. I've given myself a month to try out the products given to me so I could give my honest opinion on each product. I'd want to just dive into what I think :) and each range would come with a short summary of what it's about and then the price list and my comments. Have fun reading!

    Bene Premium Rougeria

The Bene Premium Rougeria range is made for girls with dry and damage hair (environmental stress factors, daily wear & tear). The key objective is to give intense hydration to rejuvenate damaged hair back to health with the conditioning power of red enzymes and strong antioxidants (extracts from apple juice, tomato juice & carrot). The very rare Bulgarian Damask rose honey and manuka honey is used to deeply moisturise hair back to bouncy and shiny health. Healing properties: natural organic oils (Morocco argan oil& oils from apricots, jojoba) and keratin infusions are used to repair even the most frazzled hair.

    Signature Scent: Intoxicating Bluria Rose
Notes: fruity, floral & rose notes for woman on the go.

    Hair Type: damage hair

Bené Premium Rougeria Range & Price List:
Bene Premium Rougeria Delicious Repair Shampoo 530ml RM43.90

Bene Premium Rougeria Delicious Repair Hair Mask 210g RM43.90
Bene Premium Rougeria Delicious Repair Hair Oil 40ml RM43.90

    My comments:

Bene Premium Rougeria has a lovely rose scent
Bene Premium Rougeria Delicious Repair Shampoo
I used this shampoo for 2 weeks and observed that it's not hydrating enough for my hair. My hair is chemically treated (relaxed + bleach + coloured) which fits the profile of dry and damage. While the scent is intoxicatingly deliciously, shampoo-ing left my hair dry. I had to use with a conditioner a.k.a the delicious repair treatment.

Bene Premium Rougeria Delicious Repair Treatment

After shampooing, I treated my hair with a pump or two of this conditioner and leave it for a few mins to work its magic. Like instantly, my hair became silky smooth to the touch when I run my fingers down my hair. Since it's non-silicone, my hair felt light :) and the scent lingers for a few minutes. I wish the scent could last longer so everyone could get a whiff of my delicious hair.

damage hair needs a weekly mask treatment

Bene Premium Rougeria Delicious Repair Hair Mask

Alright truth be told I only used this once, and it didn't impressed me much. I think the delicious repair treatment gives a faster result, the same way this hair mask does. Anyway don't listen to me since I've only used it once, I'll try again and give my verdict.

gives me the shine without silicone

Bene Premium Rougeria Delicious Repair Hair Oil

Oh I love this :) been using this to nourish my hair ends as I believe that the part that needs "baja" haha. Surprisingly it's not oily or weight down my hair, I used 1-2 pumps and work my way from the hair ends up. It gives the shine I need, making my hair smooth and healthy looking. Considering there's no silicone to give it the shine like what other hair smoothening / shine serums does, this hair oil gives the same effects after use. Nice!

    Bene Premium Bluria

The Bene Premium Bluria range is for the girl who's hair woes comes from scalp issues (hair fall, weak hair, sensitive / itchy scalp, etc). By using this range, your scalp impurities washes away and is feed nutrients with the help of rich enzymes - called green enzymes (kiwis, green papayas, avocados). Bonus ingredients to make hair strong and supple - 30 minerals and Dead Sea salt. Conditioning power ingredients - mineral-rich green clay (nourishment) and Dead Sea mud (scalp cleansing).

Signature Scent: Refreshing Fragrance of Bluria Rose
    Top notes: fresh & fruity
    Middle notes: delicate floral
    Base notes: musky

Hair Type: all hair types focusing on complete scalp care

Bené Premium Bluria Range & Price List:
Bene Premium Bluria Delicious SPA Shampoo 530ml RM43.90
Bene Premium Bluria Delicious SPA Treatment 530ml RM43.90
Bene Premium Bluria Delicious Spa Hair Mask 210g RM43.90
Bene Premium Bluria Delicious Spa Night Care Milk 115ml RM43.90

    My comments:

Bluria is my favourite range for Bene Premium

Bene Premium Bluria Delicious SPA Shampoo
This range is my favourite compared to Rougeria. I have sensitive scalp with dandruff, though it's not serious I always try to keep it under control using the right shampoos. So far I used this for a week, and my dandruff situation is still under control. Itchy scalp? no I didn't feel a thing! This shampoo is designed to cleanse your scalp away from all the nasties and product built up over the time of using hair care products with silicone. It clears and leaves your scalp feeling fresh, almost like a second life. I find that this shampoo is more hydrating than Rougeria (what's wrong with my hair lol). I do tend to alternate between Rougeria and Bluria, mainly because I still want to give Rougeria a chance to repair my damage hair.

Bene Premium Bluria Delicious SPA Treatment
The added hydration I need to untangle my dry damage hair during shampooing. I can't live without using a conditioner! Seriously a must for me.

face mask, hair mask, makes sense?

Bene Premium Bluria Delicious Spa Hair Mask
Again, I've only used this once as I only do hair mask once a week. I don't have any comments yet as it's just like any other hair mask. I'll continue using it and if results are positive, I'll come update my post :)

    milky night care treatment

Bene Premium Bluria Delicious Spa Night Care Milk
Oh I love love love this! After cleansing your hair, this can be use on almost dry / wet / dry hair. I prefer to blow dry and then use this product after. It gives the hydration my hair needs for a good night's sleep. I thought after care hair treatment leave on, would be heavy and thick but no, this product milky to the touch, disappears off into your hair leaving it still soft and yeah flying (meaning it doesn't clump and holds to your hair together). Though, I have to point out that your hair would be so smooth, it's almost flat. I prefer to have volume to my hair, so I'll always blow dry the next morning again to puff my hair up.

Available exclusively at selected Watsons outlets nationwide where the Bene Premium Bluria and Bene Premium Rougeria. For more information www.bluria.com.my | www.rougeria.com.my | www.fb.com/pages/Bluria-Rougeria-Malaysia

    The Grumpy Cyclist: Crespella

the crespella from grumpy cyclist, ttdi

I had lunch with Nikki today at the Grumpy Cyclist, TTDI. Heard all about it this unique cyclist hipster cafe and saw friends sharing the sinfully tempting instagram pictures of the chocolate chip pancake topped with strawberries, whipped cream and dusted with icing sugar. This dessert sin is called Crespella. My verdict? The warm fluffy chocolate chip pancakes would taste even better with the fresh strawberries I saw on instagram instead of strawberry jam which was a tad too sweet for my liking. Haven't tried the coffee, will see how it fares next time.

My Pandora Valentine: The Single Me

    2.16.2015

of beautiful rings, charms & bracelets

A short update about my obsession with Pandora as I add three babies to my collection, two of them a birthday gift from close friends, Fatin Feisal and Hazlina Shaik. I must admit that I haven't been seeing my friends for a long time, ever since being separated from my ex fiancee of 13 years. It takes time to heal and while some friends abandoned you during hard times, some stayed on. Through my journey of self discovery, I find joy in things I never taken interest of. I have suddenly fallen in love with the beauty of such trivial materialistic things, mainly because I love the meaning it carries. For example, Fatin gave me the gift of finding love again via a love silver dangle with cubic zirconia from Pandora's Valentine's edition. Hazlina (lovingly known as Taysir) surprised me on Valentine's Day with a "All Wrap Up in Pandora Charm". Our friendship has come a long way and I am grateful for being in your thoughts and hearts, thank you both *hugs*. I shall carry with me the messages close to my heart wherever I go.

Matching my love dangle is a gift from my sister and mother, the Valentine's Edition bracelet - love silver bracelet with cubic zirconia. It has become my favourite bracelet because of its femininity that sparkles like the stars at night (pic - top left).

bought a Valentine's Day gift for myself *smiles*

And for the first time in my life, I bought a Valentine's Day present just for me - a super cute ribbon ring that has bling bling on it for RM211. The single me on Valentine's Day after 13 years, I can't believe I survived to tell the tale. Anyway, single or not on Valentine's Day didn't make a difference because my 13 years of Valentine's with my x-fiancee was the worst kind of boring romance a girl can ever imagine. I was always the one giving, and now I'm happy I stopped #lovemyselfmore.
