  • Althea Korea Wins Award From MDEC

    10.30.2015

jeng jeng jeng!!! Althea won an award!!!

I thought I just selambar update about my life on my blog today about my company Althea Korea where I started working in May, 2015 after my Korean trip where I met up with my old boss from Living Social Malaysia. Yeah who knew our lunch meeting would turned into me landing another crazy adventure with another startup.

Launched not long ago, Althea Korea became quite popular thanks to my boss's idea of bridging the gap on Korean Beauty in South East Asia. You know how Air Asia's tagline is Everyone can fly now? With Althea Korea, everyone can shop now. In short, you don't need to fly to Korea to do your beauty hauls anymore because Althea Korea will be the one stop gateway for all things related to K-Beauty. Be it popular products, K-Beauty trends, Korean beauty products not easily found or not found in Malaysia. With it's price bonus, free shipping for over RM150 purchase, 30 days unconditional refunds (not happy ke, apa ke, email help@althea.kr) and of course, guarantee to be authentic (everyone worry they buy fake goods online, especially when goods comes with attractive price).

Althea's CEO Frank Kang receives award from MDEC

    overnight celebrity - cis jealous

4 months into the Malaysian market and we have already receive an award recognition from Multimedia Development Corporation (MDEC). My boss flew from Korea to Kuala Lumpur to attend the award ceremony with me tagging along as his assistant. He became a celebrity overnight, beaming with happiness and smiles. I am proud to be working under him and given the opportunity to pursue my passion under Althea.

    (after MDEC's award ceremony)

Althea Korea started with Malaysia as the first SEA country to launch and by 2016, we will be expanding to 6 more countries in SEA (omg? how can I tahan? 6 countries). Our fans calls it the Althea Fever. It's catching on and it's viral. There might be no cure *warning*.

    You're Invited! Plusify Anniversary Sale

    10.23.2015

    You're Invited To Shop!

Calling all plus size girls, curvy sistas and beautiful ladies out there. Have you heard of Plusify yet? I know it's a huge headache trying to look for plus size fashion and clothing stores in Asia, let alone in our very own country Malaysia where plus size boutiques tend to sell boring clothes or tent-like-clothing without style. Growing demands has prompted several indie shops to pop up over the years which I come across on Facebook. One in particular got my attention recently because they're having their one year anniversary sales this Sunday. The brand name is called Plusify which I think is a lovely and clever idea. If I ever open a plus size fashion brand, I would also come up with names like that! Well maybe I just stick to Plus Size Kitten and hope nobody thinks I'm selling genetically large kittens.

Sizes from L - 4XL casual, formal, dinner wear

    meet Plusify's founder Cheryn

Watch the video, because you'll get to meet the founder of Plusify - Cheryn who is also a youtuber. She's seen setting up her clothes on mannequins displaying various clothing styles and sizes of L up to 4XL (simple and clever video!). This Sunday the sale will go up to 30% off on clothes. I am going to dropby to check if I can get anything nice to wear for a bride's maid event on 28th Nov. My friend Kenby is getting hitched!!!.

    Manga Review: The One

    10.18.2015

The One by Lee Nicky [2005]

Being sick ain't fun. A lot of rest is needed along with drowning yourself in 100plus. Prisoner on my bed, I was turning into pina colada with no rum. I started reading this slice of life, shoujo (girl romance) manga "The One" about how a Taiwanese girl who started her modelling career and became a supermodel in the end. Of course like every "drama" Taiwanese story it involves a lot of sad "pasts", love, love triangle, scandals, some people going mental, a lot of crying and 7 degrees of separation. I read this on my phone using a manga reader app called Manga Rock android apple.

yes I read manga, I know I am not 10 years old anymore

Oh before I go on, you must be wondering why out of the blue I'm blogging about manga. Well, I owed it all to manga for my imagination. I have been reading since I was 10 years old when I stumble upon the manga "Candy Candy" in an Indian bookstore. At that point of time, all manga books in Malaysia were in Chinese! (and I don't know how to read Chinese). I used my imagination, logic and intuition to decipher the emotions, actions, use of lines patterns to read the characters and situations. I did this until I was 15 years old. I guess I owe my crazy mind due to manga reading.

It wasn't until it was translated into Bahasa that I got to understand what on earth is going on (only certain popular manga titles). Then thanks to technology and smart phones, apps were created bridging manga fans across the world together to have ENGLISH translated mangas available for reading. The hard work they put into scanning, translating, proof reading and re-touching the manga quality is amazing.

Back to "The One". Surprisingly this manga made me cried a few times and also laughed like I am a part of the family watching the characters grow. I do recommend this manga for a weekender read, it's not very dark and sad like Nana (another crying manga) but it is very encouraging, teaches woman to be strong and to reach out for our ambitions. It says this is still an ongoing read, but I have come to the last chapter 110 and that seems to be the ending (not telling spoilers) so :) go on and start reading this without need to be left in a cliff hanger (I hate that).

    :: The Story ::
Cane Lele was born into the fashion industry. Her mother, Ye Feii, was Taiwan's top model, and her father was also a model, until a tragic airplane crash left Lele without parents. Therefore it is no surprise that Lele hates the industry, thinking it superficial and unnecessary. Raised by her paternal grandmother, Lele reaches seventeen before she is sucked in by her mother’s sister, Ye Feihung, a fashion agent (and former model) who "convinces" the reluctant Lele to pose. Lele is adverse to the whole idea, until she sees a photo shoot of popular American model Angus Lanson, and she begins to see modelling as an art form. When Aunt Feihung's magazine editor invites Angus Lanson to a meeting of all the top fashion ambassadors, Lele is invited along and is curious to meet Angus. She does not know that Angus' twin elder brother, Eros Lanson, is secretly accompanying his brother. This obviously leads to confusion and is the start of a charming story of Lele's goals: Fashion in New York city, becoming a top model, and love?

    Harman/Kardon Concept Store First Haul

    10.17.2015

music is art, art is life

This is a post dedicated specially to a new family member in the house. By house, I mean my new lil' cosy studio apartment in Damansara Perdana. Yes, Tammy has finally left good ol' TTDI to some peace and quiet, with no housemates 3km aways. Sharing a house for the past year made me realise it's cheaper to stay on your own (utility bills, cleaning the home, maintaining it). Those aliens, do not care a **** about anything else but themselves.

congratulations Harman/Kardon on your concept store launch

A house warming gift to myself, is a brand new Harman/Kardon Aura Wireless Speaker System purchase from Harman/Kardon's first concept store in Mid Valley opened on 6th August, 2015. On this very day, I was invited to witness their ribbon cutting ceremony and join their "Sound of the City" promotion from 3.30pm - 6.30pm where selected products were going for OMG prices. My eyes met with Harman/Kardon Soundsticks's sister, the Harman/Kardon Aura bluetooth wireless speakers. They were selling for RM999 instead of RM1800 (promotion). I was lucky to be the first one to purchase it.

my dream speakers, but I got the next best thing :)

I have always wanted the iconic Harman/Kardon home audio system ever since I laid my eyes on the beautiful Harman/Kardon Soundsticks next to a beautiful Imac. Harman/Kardon isn't just any "brand". It is the award winning brand with over 60 years experience who designed some of the world's popular speakers and amplification systems for home & car audio. Gone are also the days of wires, making a jungle out of your home. Harman/Kardon engineers has created art with wireless.

So tell me, how could I not buy this magnificent speaker and bring it back home?

the Harman/Kardon Aura wireless sound system rm1800

Look at the white beauty sitting on top of my bed side table. I choose white because I'm an apple fan and all apple things are white. The other colour was black, which seemed too man for my liking. Compared to the Harman/Kardon Soundsticks which packs more base, the Harman/Kardon Aura gives a clearer sound precision, perfect for pop, classical or jazz tunes. I love the fact that I can just carry it anywhere I want without those pesky wires or speakers dead weight. It connects to my HTC phone, Macbook Air and Ipad via bluetooth and surround my home with music. I freakin love this white baby!.

My only worries is how do I clean the dust that gathers inside the hollow design where sound vibrates and travels out.

    the black Harman/Kardon Aura

see what I mean, black is so "man"

now white, it just screams apple

Harman/Kardon concept store 2nd floor, mid valley

If you're a big fan of Harman/Kardon products or an audio nerd, then you might want to check out Harman/Kardon's concept store in Mid Valley. It is located on the second floor, opposite Haagen Dazs. The latest audio technologies and solutions can be found in one roof here.
The Harman/Kardon Aura Wireless Speaker System has a sound as rich and rewarding as its appearance suggests. With its 6 X 1.5” high- and mid-range drivers and a 4.5” subwoofer delivering Omni-directional, 360ยบ sound, the Aura packs a punch much larger than its modest footprint might suggest. Outfitted with premium materials and elite features – including built-in Bluetooth® to stream audio from your Bluetooth® devices, Wifi for Apple AirPlay and DLNA streaming on your home network – the Harman Kardon Aura delivers a look and feel you’ll be proud to include in your home. From its premium cloth grill to its transparent enclosure – which lets you see inside to observe the subwoofer and its custom-built metal housing and illuminating LED – your own expectations will be forever altered. Use the Harman Kardon Remote app to guide you through a simplified set-up, giving you full control over your wireless Harman Kardon ecosystem. Aura stands alone in a world of me-too speakers as it clearly demonstrated and shows that beauty can sound as stunning as it looks.

Win a SKII Pitera Set Share Your Meaningful Gift Story

    10.06.2015

the limited edition SK-II "Wings of Change"
find the design inspiration behind this Christmas gift

When talk about meaningful gifts, it's the gifts from the heart that counts. Last Christmas, was an exceptionally hard time for me as I embarked on a new frontier with me, myself and I. Friends and family were there, all ready to give me hugs, kisses and words of wisdom which in my own world, are the most beautiful gifts a girl could ever receive when your world seems so small. They gave me the courage to fly and spread my wings. No words could describe how such a simple gesture could be a meaningful gift, priceless to say. Christmas, is still my favourite festive season, the season of giving, the season of love. I hope this year My Christmas will be filled with the same love again if not more.
