Hello Beautiful

My name is Tammy and I've been blogging for over 8 years now. I started blogging because I wanted to share my beauty hauls and lifestyle experiences. I'm also a pro-consumer, which is probably the fire in my life.

This blog is now happily written by the cutest couple you've ever seen. Gareth's Irish while I'm Malaysian. We met in the most unexpected way possible and since then have been in a loving relationship. He loves to eat, drink and try new exciting things (even extreme sports) while I love the quieter things in life, like spas, massages, shopping and beauty! But we have something in common, we both love travelling.

Being Interviewed by Emmagem.com

I was so happy when Karen from Emmagem.com took interest in my tutu picture (yes the one where my bf happily posed for like a ballerina). I did not think much of my tutu or my bf in it until I won tickets and a House Bunny cosmetic pouch with that picture. I feel so nervous even now while writing this. A simple home made tutu brought me memories and an interview by the popular Malaysia’s Fashion Blog and Online Shopping Directory, Emmagem.com.

I have a snippet of my interview from emmagem.com:

Remember the House Bunny Movie Tickets Contest? We asked readers to send in a picture of themselves wearing something pink. A reader, Tammy, who calls herself Miu because of the brand MiuMiu and the love of cats sent in a very interesting picture of her boyfriend wearing a Tutu.

Tutu’s are awesome. They can be worn just for fun or can be worn underneath skirts to make them look puffy. Just make sure your tutu is puffy enough and can stand the skirt’s weight :D You’ll look all flirty and playful with a tutu underneath your dresses. Tres cute!

Miu made a tutu all by herself with the help of some online tutorials. She has agreed to share with us the how to’s and so we went on to ask her a few questions about why she made the Tutu, her fashion picks and get to know Miu in person :)

Why do you call yourself Miu?
During school days, my girlfriends would use designer/branded names as our “calling name”. So I chose Miu (MiuMiu) which sounded like Mew (cat) I love cats!

Why did you make a Tutu?
It started because my bf had to wear a tutu for our friend’s wedding (u know the games/stunts bride’s girlfriends would make the guys do so that they’ll let the groom in to see the bride). We went looking in Klang Valley for a tutu but could not find any that’s affordable or comes in sizes that my bf could wear. It dawn on me I could make my own, as my mom used to make costumes too when I was a kid. So I figure I could make one myself.

How did you make the Tutu?
I made my tutu by tying strips of netting on a long ribbon (which is used to tie around the waist like a belt). It’s a bit difficult to explain in words so I have a simple diagram showing how I tie it.
Diagram on how to tie it, drawn by Miu herself!

I bought 30 meters of netting from Kamdar (10 meters for each color) and cut them into strips (how wide u want, determines how thick n poofy it will be).

The tied netting to the ribbon

It was an experiment so I had fun cutting by instincts and tying them up (I also glam the tutu up by sewing on sparkling crystals and flowers on it).

Stick glitters and sparkles to it to glam it up :)

Basically it’s called the No-Sew Tutu and it could be done in a few hours. It looks amazing on kids and for parties. You don’t need to spend so much money to buy a tutu anymore! Make your own today (wear one for Halloween!)

The final product, the No-Sew Tutu

Does your boyfriend always wears Tutus?

LOL he will never do it again! he’s cursing at me for entering him in the contest.

  4. Jamie-- in the latest manga that I just watched the leads name sounded more like a cat to me miyu but I can see where miumiu together would sound like a cat calling! and you are not a vampire so! (i know i am in my own little world) So Tammy has your computer come back yet or did you set it free to roam!
Also you should have made him wear a tiara!

  5. Jamie__Tammy you Maybe should have added some dangly ear rings and a Bustiers/Corsets! And not to forget the flower between the teeth!…? wait that is for the tango sorry but some ribbons lacing up from his feet a brilliant pink! The pinkiest, pink around, giving him one hell of a look!
