Hello Beautiful

My name is Tammy and I've been blogging for over 8 years now. I started blogging because I wanted to share my beauty hauls and lifestyle experiences. I'm also a pro-consumer, which is probably the fire in my life.

This blog is now happily written by the cutest couple you've ever seen. Gareth's Irish while I'm Malaysian. We met in the most unexpected way possible and since then have been in a loving relationship. He loves to eat, drink and try new exciting things (even extreme sports) while I love the quieter things in life, like spas, massages, shopping and beauty! But we have something in common, we both love travelling.

i-Hotel at The Strand, Kota Damansara

1.16.2011

-this is a sponsored review and not an advertorial-

a birthday evening not to forget...

I checked into i-Hotel at The Strand, Kota Damansara on New Year's Day after my birthday party at KFC, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail. It was the happiest day of my life or the beginning of my 2011 life. I had a Back To School theme where I forced encouraged my friends to wear our Malaysian school uniform for my birthday. Yes people I was born on New Year's Day (ask my mom how she does it). Adding to my happiness was a two (2) nights sponsored stay at the  brand new boutique budget hotel in Kota Damansara. It was really funny when Kenby & I arrived at the Hotel in our "uniforms". The lady asked how old we are! (I showed her my ID to prove that we're not underage haha). Adding to our "embarrassment" was when a police car pass by as we were walking into the Hotel. They stared and laughed. No joke this is Kisah Benar! (real life story).

We were obviously no two underaged school teenagers checking into the hotel because it's public holiday today! school is close today!

after my birthday party I came here straight!
(don't believe me? look below!)

a back to school kfc birthday party
(on New Year's day 1.1.11)

checked into i-Hotel (budget boutique hotel)

As usual before I booked for my 2 nights stay, I made sure to check on their website for details and photos. I am very particular about ambiance and hotel room conditions. I don't mind paying a bit more to make my stay relaxing and comfortable. That's just me, others might want to know what they can do around the place which I will add that around this area there's a lot of restaurant and cafes! one can have a food hunt holiday here. Opposite the hotel, there's a construction site. It looks unpleasant now but I bet when the shopping center is completed, it'll be better. Nearby places to check out is Curve, Ikano, Giant Hypermarket, Asia Cafe and lots of eateries.

32inch LCD TV with Astra Channels

stuffs people do in hotel rooms (do not copy!)

The photos looked amazing, the rooms looked good especially the premier suite for a budget hotel standard! This is definitely a stylish budget hotel, no wonder it's called boutique. After we checked in, we did a comparison note on the photos vs what we see/feel. My friends Tommy & Camie commented that the Premier Suite Room looked good just like the photos on the website. Kenby noted that the quality of the bed is good too compare to other budget hotels which has stiff and hard beds, ours is a 5 star branded KingKoil bed mattress! The place is clean and tidy, I feel safe with the 24 hours security! (security guards outside and inside the hotel at night!). There's a glass table in our Premier Room (at first I was thinking there's no table in the rooms? but I was wrong). The bathroom is small but serves its purpose, an added bonus is the cool hot water rain shower. Shampoo and Body Shower is provided in a metal casing on the wall where you can just push for it to pump out. Too bad there's no bathtub (but a budget hotel wouldn't need to have one right? since it's only for stays).  Other noteworthy advantages in this boutique budget hotel : 24 hours air conditioning, wifi and Astro satellite channels (though channels are limited, but importantly the movie channels are available yes!) on the 32inch LCD TV (available in all rooms even the single rooms!).

speak no evil see no evil hear no evil
(doing crazy stuffs as girls)

we loved the the glass roof so much!

I really love the Premier Suite I stayed in! It cost RM208 per night and is the only room available in the entire hotel with a glass roof! it has a electronically controlled sky-curtain when u wish to have some privacy in case some jet-setting plane fly across and see u changing. Very comfortable and stylish room, it's big for a budget hotel size. The only two things bothering me on my stay was the weak broadband internet wifi access and that our room smells of cigarette smokes coming from our next door guests? (who's been smoking throughout the night!?) I intercom and complained to the Receptionist about this in the middle of the night, just couldn't stand the awful smell while sleeping. I was told that this is a non-smoking hotel and that they will take preventive measures about this. I complained about the wifi service which I can't even connect, the management has rectify this problem now so I hope the wifi is accessible for future guests. It's really important nowadays to have internet wifi! especially those who stayed here for work purposes. Thumbs up for the service provided in managing my complaints and for getting back to me with a satisfactory reply.

Our Ratings! 1 - bad 5 - very good

My friend Kenby who stayed with me for a night rated this hotel a 4/5! imagine that. She has experience staying in budget hotels (despite the smoke smells, it was just bad luck for us and the weak internet wifi which she hopes is rectified) she says she would recommend this place for her friends looking for a short trip in Petaling Jaya/Kuala Lumpur as Kota Damansara is nearby Kuala Lumpur via the Penchala Link.

My boyfriend being a very "high class" person rated this hotel a 1/5. I asked him why? here's his reasons. The hotel didn't provide enough pillows and a pillow/blanket menu where he can choose which type of pillows he want (buckwheat, feathered down, goose feathers). He added he stayed in Ritz Carlton before. I almost want to flung my chair at him for his rating and explanation. He thinks this is Ritz Carlton? hello boy, this is a budget hotel! you're lucky we can even watch Astro movies on a 32inch LCD TV!

My rating if our neighbor wasn't smoking and wifi access available during my stay would be a 5/5. Yeap good? well for a Premier Suite with glass roof, big king size bed, rain shower, clean and comfortable room with 24 hours security (and not to mention this budget hotel looks stylish even though small) and nearby food eateries, I'll come again to stay and have another pajama party. Also if I have outstation friends coming to visit me, I'll recommend them to stay in the single room or a bigger one since it's RM78 onwards per night only and convenient for me to meet them since I stayed nearby.

Though I must say that we cannot be too noisy or loud as the walls in this hotel is thin. People might complain! *runs*
