  • Kyoto Bijin Yakiniku Uptown PJ Review

    8.17.2022

this is my go-to Jap BBQ place in PJ

Having discovered this gem last year thanks to sis K (one of our Hot Pot Crew sisters) this place has become my fave Japanese BBQ resto now! Just the other day, I treated my sister to her birthday dinner here as she was craving some Japanese BBQ. It was her first time too and boy she was also impressed! This is Kyoto Bijin Yakiniku Uptown and they have another branch in Subang Jaya called Tokyo Bijin Yakiniku.

    authentic Japanese restaurant decorations

open dining & semi private dining available
    (semi-private is separated by blinds)

you get a feel of being in a yakiniku bar

    Green Onion Beef Tongue RM28
    Beef Karubi RM24
    Beef Rib Eye RM26

I do recommend the beef rib eye, beef karubi, the awesome green onion beef tongue (must order!), and the green onion rice. You won't go wrong with this 3 yum! The beef tongue is like a must-have when I come here. My friends and I would order seconds if we weren't satisfied haha. I don't know how to describe this but I'm not a person to eat weird parts like the tongue, but this taste like an exquisite, chewy flavorful beef part with green onions.

During this visit, my sister ordered the Japanese Dashi Omelet which comes with toppings of mentaiko, mayo, and green onions. This was a surprisingly refreshing yummy dish with the toppings bringing a refreshing flavor to the soft, layers of omelet melting in my mouth.

don't be fooled by the bed of green onions
the beef tongue is under it!

chef recommendation: green onion rice RM14
which suits bbq more than the ochazuke RM18
(it started getting dense and soggy fast)

get chicken karage free when you FB share & show it to them
    Japanese Dashi Omelet RM22

    Oyster 1pc RM20
(the oyster is so big I kid you not)

Unlike Korean BBQ restaurants, Japanese BBQ doesn't come with side dishes such as vegetables so you will have to order this on the side from the menu. There are 3 types of sauces available on every table which are garlic, chili oil, and soy sauce or something (I'm not sure). Prices are pretty decent for an establishment like this, but I normally come here if it's a special occasion or gathering.

It's normally a full house so book ahead to avoid disappointment if you want to go!
