I have in my hands is the second most talk about cleansing device everyone vain pot out there should have, mainly because it's relatively more affordable than the super cleansing device - Clarisonic Mia. How much more "affordable" are we talking about? Well Clarisonic Mia is retailed for RM420 at Sephora Malaysia and has only one speed. Clarisonic Mia 2 has two speed, priced at RM530. How much is Olay ProX Cleansing System? RM149 thanks to Supermodels Secrets who brought them into Malaysia and beating almost every other vendor out there with her price. By far the cheapest I have seen.

Besides the price, let's talk about the functions. The Olay ProX is a simple device, just like Clarisonic Mia 2 (looks like I will be comparing a lot here). It has two buttons, one for on/off and the other to control the speed mode slow/fast. It does not need the 24 hour charge because it uses 2 AA batteries. It's a pain to open the battery compartment! I was struggling a bit with it but I guess that's how it's going to be water resistant for use in shower. It's smaller than Clarisonic Mia 2, the handle and the brush head. The brush head in particular is just a regular brush head that's not too hard / rough, neither is it soft. Unlike Clarisonic Mia 2 that has a timer beep to let you know when to stop cleansing, Olay ProX is more of a human automated kind so a word of caution, don't over brush your delicate facial skin or you'll be feeling some sting.

Now the big question, does it serve it's purpose to cleanse our face? Yes the Olay ProX does what it's made to do minus the premium qualities of the Clarisonic Mia II at a great saving. The trend is growing in Malaysia to experiment the use of facial cleansing devices in hopes of achieving a flawless looking face by using such devices. I for one believed that if I cleanse and exfoliate my face well, skincare products will be absorb more effectively and I won't have clogged up pores with nasty impurities to worry about.

As a Clarisonic Mia 2 user, I don't find any special results other than having an amazingly clean, soft and supple face waiting to drink up the skincare goodness I put on before I go to sleep. Having to test the Olay ProX, I felt the differences will boiled down to a matter of individual preference and believes. Since both devices cleanses our skin better than using non-electronic device cleansers, details such as design, brush type, function and convenience will come into play.

Ultimately, I am betting a lot consumers would go for the price tag difference first to see what facial cleansing devices is all about.

What I like:

That it's a affordable cleansing device created by the trusted skincare professionals Olay. This is a good starter device before you advance into more serious face play. If you do not like using facial cleansing devices chances are you won't like any other devices in the market. It's light and travel friendly, just pop in batteries to use. Forget charging. My face is clean and exfoliated nicely after use, I definitely enjoyed a smaller brush being able to give me the massage benefits while cleansing at a targeted area.

What I don't like:

Getting overly excited using it without a beeper or automatic stop because I am already used to using Clarisonic Mia 2 that has it, I can accidentally go overboard and cleanse too much. For sensitive or delicate skin, shorten your cleansing time to avoid over exfoliation. It will thin your skin out causing sensitivity or redness. The battery compartment is hard to open, took some time to figure it out. Need to avoid hair because the spinning brush actually spins your hair into a bundle! Clarisonic Mia don't do that haha.

How to use:

Dampen facial skin and brush head lightly with water. Dispense Pro-X exfoliating renewal cleanser or your daily cleanser in your hand and massage over face. Turn on cleansing brush (there is 2 speed) and gently move around the face for approximately 60 seconds. Avoid the eye area. Rinse face and brush head with water.

Brush head has to be replaced every 2-6 months
