People often tell me that I'm a wonder woman, but in reality - if it's something you love, you can do wonders.

    Blackmores New Concept Store Mid Valley 

    Something interesting happened two weeks ago at Mid Valley. I was specially invited to visit  the first ever Blackmores Concept Store with a new health word - Naturopath. Well the word is new to me. I was like what on earth is a Naturopath? A path to nature? A humidifier? *scratch head*.

    Arriving at the newly launched Blackmores Concept Store, my jaws dropped. I have never seen such a cool looking supplements store. It almost seems like a touch & go, air port hub to buy a product. I particularly like the icons that describes what each shelve unit is about!

    Now everyone can be healthy with this new concept store by Blackmores. It's so easy to pin point what you need and grab a bottle. The colors are attractive and the place doesn't feel or smell like a clinical store.

    Blackmores Malaysia Marketing Manager, Ms. Goh Sue San welcome me with opens arms. I think she can detect an unhealthy person from afar. She explains to me a nice store like this also comes with a nice service, one that focuses on Naturopathy. Naturopathy is a philosophy of life and approach to living a lifestyle as close to nature as possible. A system that focuses on building health and promoting the body’s natural self-healing process via holistic health education.

    I was thinking like "ah hah". Then she says they got Naturopaths and I learnt on that day Naturopaths are human beings and not a dehumidifier. They are like walking health gurus stationed at Blackmores concept store to help customers improve their health and lifestyle. Somewhat like a gym instructor who trains you, now we got health instructor who assesses your health and teaches you how to manage it naturally.

    Gulping down supplements is easy. I can buy anything that sounds good for me but I don't know if it's what I need. When someone takes a supplement, most likely it's to change or to improve one's lifestyle. Blackmores took this one step further and hire Naturopaths to help us understand what supplements we need and how we can improve our lifestyles while taking it.

    To start my natural journey of health, I met my Naturopath - Esther. She sat down with me and ask a few easy questions about my lifestyle. I don't like going through health consultations, most of the time I feel judged with the way they question my lifestyle. Who is in their best health nowadays anyway! Fortunately, Esther was down right non judgmental with me. She didn't even have the "you're a sinner" look when talking to me. Alright I know I am being a drama queen, don't tell me you don't feel this way when someone in the medical or health line questions your lifestyle?

    I told her everything since she's so nice! But before she can tell me how I can improve my lifestyle naturally, I have to show her my eyes!

    Yeap my eyes! She wants to look into my eyes, the colored portion of my iris actually that reveals my inner health strengths and weaknesses. She could tell from the eye scan what my family's medical history is like too. For mine, she said the darker areas in the eye scans shows that I am in risk of heart problems and also blood sugar level issues (diabetic?). It does not necessary tells that because such issues can be affected by something else and not directly on a health risk.

    At this point, I pictured the Naturopath like a health fortune teller using the eye machine like tarot cards but only for real and not really second guessing.

    After my eye check, Esther shares with me how I could prevent the health issues concerning my lifestyle with preventive health care solutions like drinking more water, exercising just by going up and down my house staircase, and trying to sleep early say 10pm because liver regeneration starts at 11am - 2pm. This small changes would improve my health greatly.

    She recommends me to take magnesium and supplements for my stress so it would improve my sleep quality, and thus improving my immune system.

    At the end of my Naturopath session, Blackmores surprised me with a gift to get me started on my journey to health. How sweet of them! Esther tells me I can go back to Blackmores concept store to look for her after 1 - 3 weeks time for a follow-up consultation. This is part of the Naturopath service at Blackmores new concept store in Mid Valley. Customers can purchase a RM100 Naturopath voucher and make an appointment to meet a Naturopath for health & lifestyle assessment and eye (iris) analysis to determine the strength and weaknesses of one's health.  The Naturopath will chart out a personalized dietary and lifestyle goal chart and recommend supplements.

Follow ups are essential to achieve better health as subsequent analyses will be more focused and in-depth on the targeted aspect(s) of the individual’s health.

    The Butterfly Project X Kinohimitsu Luau Party


    the ultimate year end review project

    It's been nearly 9 months since the Butterfly Project Malaysia started it's monthly review projects bringing fun review experiences (some quite challenging) and some just outright awesome to the community. What to do when we have reached nearly the end of 2013? I thought it would be awesome, if we have a Hawaiian Luau Party in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, where bloggers would dressed up in grass skirts and maybe some coconut boobies on too, get to know a fantastic brand and remember it for the year 2013. God blessed the community with a brand who could take up the risk to do something different, something exciting as to transport 50 bloggers from the community to Hawaii for a luau party. Alright I don't mean as in sending 50 bloggers on a bus, but I meant transporting your sensorial journey from the concrete jungle to the lush gardens of a mini Hawaii.

    The night? It's going to be hot (well you know Malaysian weather), there's going to be fire (even if it's a candle I don't mind) and there's going to be hot guys (I can pretend to be a long haired one).     DownTown Calvin Klein Fragrance Review

    It's no surprise that Calvin Klein is one of my favorite perfume brands. I love the classic CK One, an iconic scent that made me feel in love with Calvin Klein fragrances. When I got my first paycheck, I bought CK Euphoria EDP and it came with a gorgeous black tote which I use for work. My other favorites are Anna Sui, Marc Jacobs, Nina Ricci, Annick Goutal and Kenzo Flower.

    Recently I gotten hold of Calvin Klein's latest fragrance called DownTown for her. It reminds me of the song up town girls haha but quite the opposite. DownTown is created for the modern urban girl who lives in her own world without rules. Original and real to herself. Now that sounds rebellious sexy right?

    Not as sexy as it smells! I absolutely love the new scent, it's so me. A person who is true to herself and dares to be live the world by her own. This speaks so much of how I grew up in an urban town and learning to live independently without a care for other's expectations of me. After all it's my life, who is there to tell me what I can or cannot do.

    The scent smells soft and empowering at the same time. It has the balances of woods and soft, floral scent to create a confident, modern fragrance with a unique signature and unexpected edge. For me, it smells like bubbly sweet pink florals when I first wear it. After an hour, the scent quickly becomes warmer, creating a more sensual musky dusk scent. It's a great perfume to be used in the day and gradually it becomes musky by the hour. I would wear this when I am out for work in the city by myself seeking inspirations of the day.

    The top notes: Italian cedrat, bergamot, tunisian neroli, green pear, watery plum.
    The mid notes: pink peppercorn, violet leaf, gardenia petals.
    The end notes: Texan cedarwood, incense, vetiver, velvet musks.

    The packaging? A light pink bottle with a natural curve, is simple and feminine. The unique silver cap which is hollow with bright fuchsia accent gives the bottle it's electrifying modern edge. I don't see any point in having a hollow cap but I am guessing that's where the uniqueness comes in to say, breaking away from the norm. You don't see perfume caps hollow any day!

    The face of DownTown Calvin Klein is none other than actress Rooney Mara. You might remember her as Erica Albright the ex-girlfriend of Mark Zuckerberg played by Jesse Eisenberg. She and director David Fincher created the black-and-white campaign that tells the story of a young woman living in her own world, breaking away from the 'expected'. Set in New York City, the short film potrays the multi-faceted life of a globally recognizable actress who always remains true to herself.

    BFF TAG: Meet My Best Friend

    It's been a while that I talk about my BFF, Buaya Wing. Ever since she got a new boyfriend she's been pretty busy reliving her teenage dreams (hahahahhaha!). I miss going shopping with her and hanging out with her, but that's not going to stop me from disturbing her new love life. We have been friends for 5 years already and recently SK-II Malaysia asked me to do a BFF Tag video to show how age does not matter, a discussion between two best friends.

    My BFF was so happy when I asked her to do the video with me. You know how she is, always game for anything. The first video we make was at night so it look pretty dark and bad! (confession hahaha). I went to 1Utama and park myself at TGIF during lunch time to remake the video again. My bff works at TV3 so she came down to help me shoot the video again.

    I wanted this video to be as natural as possible, like a chat between two best friends with a interviewer shooting at us. Let me know what you think about the video? It's actually shot using my iPhone 5 and I'm holding the phone while we two talk away (we didn't rehearse it's all impromptu conversation lol).

    The designs were specially created for this charity campaign and worn by 26 renowned personalities such as Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir, Dato Ruby Khong, Deborah Henry, Carmen Soo, Fahrin Ahmad, Mizz Nina, Deanna Yusoff, Yeo Yan Yan, Jack Lim, and Gillian Hung.     I am happy to show everyone today what I have discovered at the L'Occitane's Christmas Party for media and bloggers held at Ploy, Clearwater, Damansara Heights.     The limited edition perfumes Fleur d’Or & Acacia (for her) and Cèdre & Oranger (for him) are created by the famous perfumer, Karine Dubreuil who grew up in Grasse. Grasse is the land of perfume where perfume ingredients gather from everywhere is collected here and turn into perfumes by perfume makers. Watch the movie "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer" and you will understand how perfumes are made. 

    “I remember the melancholy of summer’s end, mixed with the excitement of renewal to come. Within the earth sap would begin to rise. In my grandmother’s garden, there would be mimosa branches, weighed heavy with fluffy flowers, its sweet scent carried by the wind, mingling with aromas of acacia from the Mediterranean…” – Karine Dubreuil

    Remembering her childhood days in Grasse during Christmas, Karine Dubreuil created Fleur d’Or & Acacia and Cèdre & Oranger for the La Collection de Grasse. I personally find the scent of Fleur d’Or &Acacia smelling like honey jasmine flowers. It has a musky floral scent that's light and soft, almost comforting. The top notes are made with Lemon and Bergamot while the heart notes, Mimosa and Acacia and base notes, White Wood and Musk. Since it's EDT, the light fragrance would only last a few hours. You're left smelling like a baby in the end. A day scent just enjoying Christmas with the family and night, feeling the warmth around the Christmas tree laughing with friends. Not a party perfume I must say and I think this would go well for mature ladies like our moms or aunties.

    I didn't get a chance to smell the Cèdre & Oranger (for him). According the the description, it's more of a light woody musk scent for the men. Both EDT bottles look identical except for the light tinted water that would distinguish one another. Again it's classy and sophisticated. Nothing fancy or frilly.
