Les Essences de Diptyque Review

An Olfactory Journey with Diptyque

This is one of the best well-put-together events I have ever attended. Simple, elegant, and all things in the right places. Many thanks to Taysir for inviting me to this event. I needed a breath of fresh air and wow did I smell more than that! I love fragrances but have always found Diptyque leaning on the masculine side but their latest collection 'Les Essences de Diptyque' is to dive for!

Held at the beautiful Astana at Bamboo Hills, the sound of water splashing in the background invited us into a glorious setting fit for a white wedding.

scent and surrealism - five treasures of nature

the new collection created by master perfumers

Les Essences de Diptyque (The Essences of Diptyque) is a collection of exclusive fragrances with lingering sillages. Coral, mother of pearl, tree bark, water lily, the desert rose: none of these possesses a natural, distinctive fragrance of its own. Now, through olfactory and visual creations, they are revealed. Unique, precious, ready to awaken the senses. Created by a group of master perfumers and long-standing friends: Fabrice Pellegrin, Alexandra Carlin, Nathalie Cetto and Olivier Pescheux.

Lunamaris EDP

We went on a sensorial journey by Raa and Hubert from Ken's Apothecary. Fun fact, I bought my first Petite Chérie from Hubert during their pop-up booth at Bangsar Village 1 back in 2015. I fell in love with the scent and it has become my favorite. The journey started with Lunamaris where Raa shared a story and Hubert asked true or false questions. It was interesting getting to know all five scents this way.

Lilyphéa EDP and Rose Roche EDP

Bois Corsé EDP and Corail Oscuro

Lunamaris EDP (Amber/Spicy)
Pink peppercorn, incense, rockrose
Lunamaris shines a light on the mother of pearl, a delicate beauty of nature. Vibrant notes of pink peppercorn mingle with subtle accords of incense and ambery rockrose. A spicy, mysterious, smoky manifestation of the pearl.

Lilyphéa EDP (Aquatic/Green)
Cardamon, violet leaves, vanilla
Lilyphéa celebrates a noted beauty of the plant world: the water lily. Fresh notes of cardamom and violet leaves blend into sweet vanilla. If you like the smell of freshly cut grass, this scent will whisper to you.

Rose Roche EDP (
Floral)
Lemon, centifolia rose, patchouli
Rose Roche conjures up the imaginary fragrance of the desert rose: an encounter between lemon, centifolia rose and patchouli notes. A beautiful refreshing take on roses that's unique, elegant, and not overpowering.

Bois Corsé EDP (Wood)
Coffee arabica, sandalwood, tonka bean
Bois Corsé evokes the textured outer layer of a tree. A combination of intense black coffee absolute and the essence of sandalwood, with tonka bean blended in. This smells like Bailey's Irish Cream to me, warm, sexy, by the fireplace.

Corail Oscuro (Mineral)
Mandarin, rose bourbon, salty mineral accord
Corail Oscuro is a tribute to coral, a true treasure of nature. The crystalline effervescence of mandarin meets rose bourbon absolute and a warm, salty mineral accord. This is a unique

our 'Les Essences de Diptyque lunch'

The second highlight of the journey was to partake in a 3-course meal inspired by the collection itself. Each plate is designed by each scent - starting from the lobster bisque 'coral', mains black Angus short ribs 'bark', will bass fillet 'waterlily', and ending with a beautiful  'lunamaris' dessert.

I love all the scents in this collection. Surprised by such imaginary creations by the master perfumers in their interpretation of nature's treasures. The bottles are designed with minimalist touches that add to the character of the scents. It's made of recyclable materials and refillable.

The fragrances are priced at 100ml / RM1,500 and are available at Diptque stores near you.
