In all my life, I never expect to be invited to a coffee event. Truthfully I almost missed this event that day because I had other commitments. Thankfully, I went because I have fallen in love with something so simple, so classy and so beautiful that day. It was the Nescafe Dolce Gusto. This post will be filled with the photographs I took of that day, simply because I like to tell a story through my lens. Dedicated to my mother, hopefully I can buy her a Nescafe Dolce Gusto machine because she's a Nescafe freak! probably I'm going to be next. Is drinking coffee hereditary? (nah joking, no wait serious?).

Espresso Lab is closed today for us!

NESCAFE Dolce Gusto set out to tickle the taste bus of Malaysia's most popular bloggers in an intimate afternoon tasting at Espresso Lab, Publika Solaris Dutamas. I saw KY Speaks, Tian Chad, Esther and Nuffnang bloggers there. I was honored to be among them (beaming with glee) and today I would be taken to a whole new frontier on skipping the book on coffee, tea or chocolate beverage making and jumping on to just touching a few buttons to have cafe style hot or cold beverages ready. everywhere I look, I see these! what are they?

The NESCAFE Dolce Gusto uses small hand held size colorful patented smart capsules. Each capsule is packed with grounded coffee beans and milk powder. When you insert the capsule into the machine, a small needle pierces into the capsule and water enters and fills the capsule, at the right temperature and with high pressure. The water is then pushed through the roast and ground coffee to capture all its flavor and aroma. Then it gets really smart! poking out from the bottom, the pressure then pushes the liquid to flow out and into your cup! This is how it works.

There's currently 4 NESCAFE Dolce Gusto machines available at stores, they come in either automatic or manual. The machines are very stylish, portable and require no genius to set up. I set up mine without looking at the manual back home. It was merely putting in the water container, placing the drip container and plugging the electrical cord in. Colors choices are limited  depending on machine models. Designed and marketed in partnership with KRUPS (popular espresso machine manufacturer) which makes the machine all the reason to have. The small and cheeky Piccolo is available in 3 colors; Red, White and Titanium. It has a 0.6 liter water tank, easily removable for filling and cleaning.

Playful Genio is an automatic machine with a built-in Play and Select technology. It is available in 3 colors; classy Matte Black, sexy Red and cool White Chocolate. Its 0.6 liter water tank easily removable for filling and cleaning.

Using the machine is child's play. Again there's only 2 variants - automatic and manual. It takes just three simple steps to make the perfect cup of NESCAFE Dolce Gusto beverage. The difference between automatic and manual? nothing much just that it's still easy as 1 2 3. Being that easy doesn't mean the quality drops. The machine uses a 15-bar pressure system similar to that of a professional coffee machine at cafes to ensure cafe-style quality beverages. The machine use a thermo-block system which heats the water up quickly (less than 30secs). It also has a built-in ECO mode that automatically switches off when not in use (eco-friendly! energy saving).

Then came the question of why a seemingly effortless coffee/beverage making machine is doing at a place like Espresso Lab? surely there is a reason right? Turns out HY Leong is a SCAE Certified Barista and this is his "Espresso Lab" where he operates in Publika. He explains to us the advantages of having your cafe style coffee made in the comfort of your own home and having one at a cafe like his. Making comparison to see, he takes a longer time to make a perfect cup of espresso compared to the minute man NESCAFE Dolce Gusto. He also invested well into his Espresso machine while is way more expensive than the NESCAFE Dolce Gusto. I fear for Leong's business should he continue praising the machine!

I'm having a Chococino!

Now that we know all about the machines and how to use it, time to settle back into getting to know the flavors. There's about 10 great tasting cafe-style beverages to satisfy every individual coffee lovers needs. My first choice? I went for the Chococino, a devilishly creamy hot chocolate made with the finest coffee beans. My grandmother use to make for me during primary school before I hop on to the crazy morning bus to school. I didn't expect to drink hot chocolate again until today, it brings back memories. I miss my grandma.

We were all given this huge trolley bag, inside with a 1 month supply of assorted beverage capsules; Espresso, Grande Inteso, Chai Tea Latte, Chococino, Cappuccino, Ice Cappuccino, Mocha, and Latte Macchiato. My stock is almost finish now as I have been drinking everyday *lol*.  Until I forgot to create my own version of abstract act! because I was too busy drinking. Creating the abstract act is easy, also in 3 steps just like the NESCAFE Dolce Gusto

Being a grown up doesn't mean I stop being playful, now that I have the NESCAFE Dolce Gusto, I've been drinking coffee everyday and marking my drinks calendar with it. I now own a wonderful machine that prepares me hot/cold beverages in a matter of minutes. I highly recommend this to coffee lovers out there! it's a must get for your home or office. Making mocha, hot chocolate, cappuccino, espresso has never been so easy. The price range is from RM399 - RM899 which I find is affordable compared to buying an espresso machine. The NESCAFE Dolce Gusto is so user friendly, portable, fun to use and easier to clean in comparison! I am waiting for more flavors to come in Malaysia so I can try them all. Eyeing the Vanilla Latte Macchiatto (special online edition) and the capsule holders! I'm going crazy....!!!
