M World Hotel Petaling Jaya Review

M World Hotel Petaling Jaya

I didn’t plan anything fancy, just a short staycation to unwind, sleep in, and maybe have a swim. We checked into M World Hotel Petaling Jaya on a Friday afternoon, stayed one night in their Executive Deluxe Room (we got upgraded! yay), and checked out the next day feeling like we’d been away for much longer.

the grand lobby lounge

Indulge Coffee House

The moment we stepped through the doors, the Lobby Lounge stole the scene. Tall ceilings, soft amber light, polished marble, and artful touches everywhere. It was hard not to pause and take it in. There’s grandeur here, but it doesn’t feel cold; instead, it feels welcoming.

Just beside the lounge sits the Indulge Coffee House, its glass display case glinting with colourful cakes and pastries. Even before checking in, I was already thinking about coming back later for dessert.

🚇 6 stops → Central Market / Chinatown
🚇 7 stops → Merdeka 118
🚇 8 stops → Bukit Bintang / Pavilion KL
🚇 9 stops → The Exchange TRX

The best part about this hotel is how easy it is to get everywhere. It’s directly connected to 1 Utama Shopping Centre, one of the biggest malls in the country, and the Bandar Utama MRT station is just a short, covered walkway away.

That means you can literally step out for coffee or shopping, hop on the MRT to KL city, and come back to the hotel without ever needing a car. For anyone staying in Petaling Jaya, whether you’re local or visiting, that’s a major plus to avoid all that jam - traffic jam that is.

Free hotel shuttle pick-up and drop-off is an added advantage

One of the most underrated perks of staying at M World Hotel Petaling Jaya is their complimentary shuttle service. I only realised this after checking in, but it’s honestly one of the most convenient things they offer,  especially if you’re not driving.

The shuttle runs between the hotel and several nearby hotspots:
  • 1 Utama Shopping Centre
  • Centrepoint
  • The Club Bukit Utama (which has a golf course, driving range, and racquet sports)
  • Menara Surian / UAC area
  • IKEA Damansara & Menara Ken TTDI
  • Imazium / Starling Mall

You can request pick-up or drop-off at the concierge, and they’ll slot you into the next available run. It’s a small detail, but for a city like PJ, where parking can be a headache, having a free shuttle makes exploring much easier.

During our stay, we used it to get to IKEA Damansara, then stopped by Starling Mall for coffee before heading back. Smooth, quick, and no need to deal with traffic or Grab fares.

our Executive Deluxe Room so spacious!

Welcome fruits, first mini bar free on the house and Nespresso coffee!

Love the bathroom, but wish there was a bathtub

Early check-in was smooth and quick. Our Executive Deluxe Room was spacious, modern, and bathed in natural light from the city-view windows. A welcome fruit basket sat neatly on the table, and the minibar’s first round was complimentary (nice perk!).

After unpacking, I just sat by the window for a bit. It had been a long week, and that moment of silence, just watching cars move far below, was what I came for. The kettle was boiling in the background, and my partner made a cup of coffee using the Nespresso coffee machine in the room. The normal deluxe room doesn't come with it.

Honestly this is the biggest hotel pool I have ever seen!

Kiddies Club Level 15 is a mini wonderland!

There's someone stationed to take care of the centre

Level 15 is where everything comes together. The saltwater infinity pool stretches right towards the skyline, and in the late afternoon, the sunlight hits the water in that perfect way that makes you want to stay longer. There’s a jacuzzi section bubbling quietly at one end, and a small wading pool for kids. Parents do need to watch their children here because there’s no lifeguard, but it still feels safe and relaxed.

Next to the pool is the M Lounge, the hotel’s club lounge for executive guests. It’s warm, quiet, and elegant, the kind of place where you can sit by the window with a drink and just watch the light change over the city. During the day, they serve light snacks and coffee, and by evening, it becomes an easy place to wind down. It feels like a calm living room in the sky.

Down the same corridor is the Beauty and Wellness Center. Even from the outside, you can smell the mix of essential oils in the air. Inside, the atmosphere is soft and dim with treatment rooms for massages, facials, and body scrubs. The coffee scrub on the menu caught my eye, but I didn’t have time to try it this trip. Still, it looked spotless and genuinely inviting.

The Kiddies Club is also on this floor. It’s bright and full of colour, with toys, a small slide and a ball pit. It’s open from eight in the morning to seven in the evening. Parents have to accompany their kids but it’s a great space for families who want some quiet time while the children play safely.

Then there’s the CHXpress Fitness Center by Clark Hatch. It’s open 24 hours a day and honestly looks more like a proper gym than a hotel one. There are treadmills, weights, and machines for every kind of workout. I went in early in the morning and it was spotless and quiet.

Level 15 feels like its own little resort above the city. You could easily spend your whole day just there without needing to leave the hotel.

Morning breakfast buffet at Indulge Coffee House

All-day dining ala carte or buffet, even private dining events are held here

A variety of hot Western and Asian breakfast buffet

We rolled out of bed a little later than planned (hey, that’s the best part of a stay-cation) and made our way down to the breakfast buffet at the hotel’s in-house restaurant, Indulge Coffee House, which runs from 6:30 am to 10:30 am.

The moment we walked in, the space felt calm rather than chaotic. I picked a table by the garden-facing windows, easily the nicest spot in the room. The morning light streamed in, and even during peak hours, there were plenty of tables. No awkward waiting for seats here.

just a whole counter for breads and pastries

There's something for everyone here, but my favourite is the Apam station

Then came the surprise: the apam breakfast station. I actually stopped mid-walk when I saw it. Instead of the usual toast and pancakes, there it was — warm, fluffy apam made fresh on the spot. It felt like such a local touch, and honestly, I don’t think I’ve seen that in any other hotel breakfast. I ended up hanging around that counter longer than I expected.

The buffet had a good balance between local and Western dishes — enough variety to keep things interesting without feeling overwhelming. Pastries, waffles, cereal on one end; nasi lemak, congee, and local buns on the other.

the yogurt and fresh fruit juice station

all kinds of fruits, salad, starters, and milk are found here

The fruit-and-juice corner also stood out. I poured myself a tall glass of fresh watermelon juice and picked a plate of mixed fruit before moving on to the hot dishes. It felt like they took care with the freshness, and that little detail made a difference.

As for the hot section, everything I tried hit the spot. I started with a plate of apam, then moved on to a custom omelette, a spoonful of sambal nasi lemak, and finished with a few pastries and coffee. Comforting, unfussy, and exactly what I wanted on a slow, easy morning.

24-hour stay means you check out late at 3pm!
(request during check-in)

Late check-out at 3pm was perfect. We went back to the room, lounged for a while, packed slowly, and took one last look out the window before leaving. It wasn’t a long trip, but it was the kind of short break that clears your head without needing to go far.

It’s the small things that stayed with me. The calm pool, the apam breakfast, the view from the window. One night was enough to remind me that a good stay doesn’t need to be fancy or far away, just done right.

The hotel also has seasonal packages that include late checkout, upgrades, or meals. The one we booked came with a free upgrade and late check-out upon request during check-in, super nice.
