  • Wild Child - Enid Blyton Boarding School Stories?

    12.13.2008

When I was in primary school, my aunt bought me Enid Blyton's books. They were the St. Claire series and I read the Malory Towers series too. Both about girls in boarding school and what fun they have. This movie reminds me of those books and Hogwarts (Harry Porter's boarding school). Not magical, but really just a teen-flick. The begining of the movie seemed interesting as we follow the wild life of Poppy who was sent to boarding school to teach her a lesson about being a "uncontrollable biatch of a daughter" by her father. At boarding school, she tries to make everyone's life hard by showing how Americans can be such a pain in the arse. The story is predictable and lacks the girl power after she befriends the Brittish girls which is the start of a boring teen-flick of a predictable ending. The directors should've pump more flower power instead of suddenly toning down what Poppy could've been (watched House Bunny? it's not so hard to make a chick flick!). OH I really find it a bit tacky when a American Malibu Princess can suddenly play lacrose like a pro (her mom plays lacrose, but how did that pass on to her? special lacrose pro DNA?)

Rating: 2/5 stars - another dvd rent.
