  • A Date with Lancome Maqui Miracle

    3.23.2011

    All New Maqui Miracle Foundation
    (compact powder RM130, casing rm55)

I received an invitation to experience the latest product via a exclusive and personalized session with Lancome Colour Design Artist (LCDA) and I was thinking whether I should go. The Lancome Teint Miracle liquid foundation that I reviewed last year was to me a light & sheer liquid foundation that brightens & plumps up my face. "Aura in a bottle" is now in the form of  a compact powder. Curious I decided to check it out although I am not a fan of compact powders as I have dry skin and most compact powders make my skin cakey or look like an opera singer.

Bonjour Lancome! I am here to try!

I arrived late (no thanks to the KL jam & rain) to be welcomed by Lancome's Head Make-Up Artist and Trainer, Zam (lovingly called). I thought he looked familiar, I think I seen him in action at Miss Sixty's fashion event last year. Zam's so cute and friendly (you can see it from the photos) I want to ask Lancome if I can bring him back along with the beautiful roses. If only every morning I could wake up to a beautiful make up counter like this and my own personalized LCDA giving me the look of the day.
today we're focusing on the compact powder okie?

    available in 8 shades

Since the Maqui Miracle do not have the same 18 Hour Hydration as Teint Miracle, what's does it have then? What is the difference between Teint Miracle's light aura and this one here?
    • 12 Hours Longer Lasting aura of brightening skin that lasts. Women can look forward to hour after hour of bright, translucent perfection.
    • SPF 35/PA+++
    • Aura Bright Technologies (light complex with bioptic berry pink pigments and blue pigment to reveal vibrant translucency of a fresh pure complexion). Bioptic Pink = correct dullness, allowing natural healthy glow. Bioptic Blue neutralizes yellow tones and reinforce appearance of  freshness and purity complexion.
    • it's an Aura in a Compact Powder form now which is sheer, light plus feels barely there.
However when combined with the use of Teint Miracle liquid foundation as base before Maqui Miracle, the coverage is much better (for light to medium coverage). Zam even uses the Teint Miracle as a eyeshadow base & concealer. He does it by layering the Teint Miracle via massage application techniques before blending with the Maqui Miracle. The result? a flawless bright complexion with my redness and uneven skin tone minimized. My tired looking face and eyes gone in a matter of a few minutes.

changes in a matter of a few minutes of make up!
no photoshop done! this is the actual photos

My thoughts on the Maqui Miracle, I couldn't believe that it's a foundation compact powder as it's very light and sheer. When I blend it on my hand, it seems to disappear off leaving a brighten spot. Zam told me it's great to achieve that natural looking fresh face glow and with the right usage of tips & tricks, we could highlight areas to look more radiant and alive. It works on me very well as I do not need a high coverage for my face. Just to tone down my redness, uneven skin tone and make me look more awake than tired would do the trick. Making it a point to hydrate my face if not any powder on face would look dry.

before and after using the special sponge
    (example only on a shade)

special sponge with 2 different sides

The coolest thing was when Zam told us about the special sponge that comes with the Lancome Maqui Miracle Compact Powder. It's actually a double sided sponge that works differently. Side A which is apparent to our eyes, appears much more purous than Side B that has a smooth soft texture appearance. What's the difference u say? Side A is to "grab" the compact powder particles like a brush! Normal sponge would require you to slide it with pressure so you could get the powder (and sometimes I notice girls do rollerskates on the powder compact with their sponge) but with this special sponge, it grabs the powder easily for application. Side B comes in handy to blend the powder, creating a soft, even tone appearance from the bleending. Saves you time from grab & blend process. That opera look won't be haunting u now.
