  • Simplot Popcorn Hashbrown: Create Your Own Crunchy Goodness!

    12.21.2012

my favorite hash brown now comes in popcorn bite sizes!

I love my hash browns but I never knew it was all from Simplot until a friend asked whether I know Simplot has popcorn size hashbrowns? I was like... huh? Simplot? It never dawned on me to remember the brand name, all I know was these are my favorite hash browns, readily available from supermarkets without needing to drop by some fancy diner to eat them for breakfast (or lunch or dinner). You won't missed that signature golden packaging with hash browns lined up one by one at the supermarket. Simplot, now I will remember it forever especially when it's now available in bite size "popcorn" pieces that will make cooking them even happier.

bite size popcorn hash browns great for parties!

you can fry, microwave, or oven toast them

Of course since today is Winter Solstice and I don't have a kitchen ready yet, I'm going to use my imagination and cooked up something special to make do without "ton yuan". At least something special? I had a few things in my kitchen box and fridge, they're:
    • baking tray
    • garlic butter
    • eggs
So I thought to myself, why not I lightly oven toasts my popcorn hashbrowns first to enjoy them and then set aside some for a special Winter Creation? say egg muffins but made with hashbrowns? Seriously... this is my first time baking this and it's easy lol. Let's see how it turns out?

eggs, garlic butter & muffin baking tray

    grease tray with garlic butter
smash toasted hashbrowns as the base

break eggs into the hashbrown cups

baked them in the conventional oven for 10mins (250C)

omg they look beautiful!! but I think I over baked them

here's the hashbrown base, oven baked slightly golden, crispy

What do you think of my egg hashbrown muffins? They turned out so beautiful baked! can't believe this can be done in less than 30mins (seriously). I lightly oven toasted the hash browns for 10mins over a medium heat setting. They were still soft but turned golden yellow. Then I greased the muffin cup tray with garlic butter for taste and started to smash them into the muffin tray, creating a base so I could break my eggs into it. Some cups has egg whites because my egg was a large one so I could share 2 muffin cups with 1 egg. Then preheat the oven (I use a auto detect setting so it went on until it stopped). Put in the baking tray and set it to baked under 250C for 10mins.

When it was done, the egg hashbrown muffins smelled wonderful with a beautiful golden color. However I think I should cut down on either the duration or baking temperature because my egg was overcooked (not burnt though, but I think it should be softer like sunny side up egg texture). Reason I use eggs is because the eggs holds the hashbrowns together, so when it was baked, they didn't break into pieces or easily ruptured. I shall try again next time to change the recipe haha.

fun tip: create your own mixture for the cups!

they taste awesome with homemade sauces!
    source: bbq confiments

P.S: Try mixing mayonnaise with sweet chili sauce. It goes well with hash browns! also u can further add relish or stuffings instead of egg. Be creative :) mine is just the 1st experiment using basic ingredients found in my fridge.

Not that I'm complaining, but sluggish loading instances times will sometimes affect your placement in google and could damage your high quality score if advertising and marketing with Adwords. Anyway I'm adding this RSS to my e-mail and could look out for a lot more of
