  • Lost World of Tambun Adventure: Lost World Hotel & ETS

    12.07.2013

have you been to the Lost World of Tambun?
    Malaysia's hidden gem in Ipoh

I love to discover exciting places in Malaysia that offers not only a place to escape from the city; but a place that I could enjoy pampering myself emotionally or physically. No I'm not talking about sports - I hate sports. I am talking about a getaway that includes something every ladies would love to indulge in! Hot springs spa.
In Malaysia when you ask the locals where they can hit the nearest hot spring you're left with a few choices. Head up north or stop at Ipoh to admire the limestone mountains and caves of magnificent wonders.

That's what I did last weekend, I took off with 29 other bloggers to escape to the Lost World of Tambun. A family theme park similar to one in Selangor, Sunway Lagoon. However there are differences between the two, like Sunway Lagoon don't have a dedicate hot springs wonderland!

ETS (KTM) arrives to bring us to IPOH

My adventure starts early in the morning at KL Sentral. All of us were to ride on the Electronic Train System (ETS for short) under KTM. It's the Ipoh rail line heading north. Tickets can be purchased online or at the counter on level 2 at KL Sentral. A one way ticket to Ipoh on the gold coach costs only RM35 ;)

the gang all ready to go on an adventure

This was my first time traveling to Ipoh by train so I found it refreshing to be able to just sit back and relax in an air-conditioned coach. The ride wasn't bumpy and time flies when you are riding with a group of excited girls!

me & Illy, friendship starts from sitting side by side

    Cik Lily buying her breakfast

There's a small tv screen fixed at each end for passengers to be entertained. When hungry one can hop over to the f&b bar serving hot meals like nasi lemak for rm3.

at the KTM Ipoh after 2hours ++

It was a sight to behold when we arrived at Ipoh KTM station. One would say its a reminiscent of old time Malaya with its colonial architecture. There's no modern ticket entrance here, one just purchase your tickets from the counter and walk in and out of the train station. Tickets are checked inboard the train :)

    selamat datang Butterfly Project bloggers!

Greeted by the friendly and handsome "tour guides" Firdauz and Syawal from Lost World of Tambun, holding posters welcome the bloggers from The Butterfly Project! Yes I didn't mention that this is organized by The Butterfly Project Malaysia, a beauty and lifestyle bloggers community that I founded and revamped this year. It's our first getaway review project in collaboration with Sunway's Lost World of Tambun.

hello Ipoh! thanks for having us here!

can't wait to go to Lost World, quick let's go!

two special guys who made us laugh a lot

A big heap of hugs for the warm welcome by Lost World of Tambun. They hired a bus to pick all of us up to the theme park from Ipoh KTM station. I was loving the small gestures prepared by them, I don't know if anyone notice it!

Cool towels for everyone to get freshen up from our train journey.

Along the way, Syawal and Firdaus introduce themselves and Ipoh's tourist spot like professionals!

When we finally reached Lost World of Tambun, we were greeted by the Marketif Director Angeline and her team Eugene, Shafiqah & Amelia.

    hello Lost World of Tambun!

Of course not missing an photo opportunity right in front the magnificent entrance, a group photo to remember this day by. You can almost hear the tribal songs and tigers roaring in the background.

ah hello there Lost World Hotel!

feels like there's some tribe hiding behind right!

We checked into our hotel around 4pm. Usual check in time is 3pm at Lost World Hotel. I do prefer if the hotel was situated inside the theme park for convenience. Nevertheless it was only less than 10 mins walk away from the theme park entrance.

overlooking our room, is the theme park

    big, spacious, luxurious super suite

our cozy bed for the night

    recommended for family stay

I booked the super suite instead of classical room because I am sharing the room with Ayna and Illy. They were so happy seeing the hotel room, super size!. For the price of RM1,200 (normal rate) a night, an actual mini bar with microwave, dining area, a tv lounge and a separate king size bedroom. There are two bathrooms, one with shower in the master bedroom. I slept like a baby here with two of them. The hot springs really helped relax muscles and clear my mind after a tiring day. Perfect wellness getaway that's affordable compared to the luxurious Banjaran Hot Springs situated next to the Lost World of Tambun.

P.S: the wifi connection in this hotel is fast and reliable! Bonus :)

Recently opened on 28th April 2011, this conveniently located hotel is the latest addition to the Sunway family. Featuring 134 hotel rooms with a choice of king or twin beds, the hotel also comprises of 20 service apartments, from where you can wake up to a spectacular view of the 400 million year-old limestone hills enveloped by morning mist. Try out the ultimate experience at the Lost World Hot Springs & Spa, a perfect way to soak in the natural therapeutic hot springs while star-gazing. The property is a retreat for the entire family in mind as well as the corporate world, elevating it to a whole new level of entertainment and leisure by providing a safe, friendly and secure environment for all its visitors. Lost World Hotel is a smoke free property which is surrounded by an abundance of nature and the crisp fresh air of Tambun.
