Krabi Thai Cookery School by YA

bringing back my cooking skills from Thailand

Sawadee Ka, I am back from the land of smiles, to be exact Krabi! It's my first time visiting Krabi and I must say it don't look anything like what the "travel deals" sells us. Krabi is not an island, it's just the costal area where you can take speedboats to the beautiful islands. Everything is super expensive at Ao Nang, cheap to the farangs (farangs are what Thai people calls white people) expensive to us Malaysians because the price is roughly your Kuala Lumpur food price and might even be higher. Example a normal cafe by the street with no aircond sells "nasi ayam paprik" at RM14 while our cafes charges RM6.

Gordon Ramsay learns Thai Cooking from Ya

Anyway what I enjoyed the most during my 4 days 3 nights stay in Krabi is going to the popular Krabi Thai Cookery School by Thai chef Ya. It's also recommended by Lonely Planet and it's where Gordon Ramsay learn how to cook tom yum from Ya! Not wanting to waste the awesome recipes and skills Ya taught me, I am going to plan for a Thai Dinner night for my friends (if they dare to eat my cooking). One of the dishes that I will be preparing is using the glutinous rice to make Sticky Mango Rice! one of Thai's popular dishes.

this is glutinous rice for making sticky rice

first time my fiance & I learn cooking together

nothing like a ultimate self indulgent while cooking

yay! see my sticky mango rice? yummeee

I know I can do it again in Malaysia with what Ya taught me! I have the recipe in my hand and all I need is to buy glutinous rice from uh where? I didn't even know there's such a thing as glutinous rice. Hope I can find it in the supermarket soon so I can cook Thai Sticky Mango Rice and impressed my friends.
