people will stare, make it worth their while - Tammy

Who knew my life would take a turn for the worst, and yet become the best thing that has ever happened to me. I missed the best years of my youth, blind folded in the dark, crossing each emotional whirlwind holding my heart in my hand. The day I started The Butterfly Project was the day I unknowingly walk towards that great despair, only to discover the strength I have to face the unknown. Did I regret throwing that pebble into the pond that ripples into the future? I asked myself repeatedly in August.

    The answer is no.

I would never give up something I love. Love shouldn't hold you back from doing great work, no matter how insignificant it may be. Steve Jobs said, "The only way to do great work is to love what you do".

Miraculously, I survived a life challenge that did not paralyze me. A long-term relationship of 13 years (engaged) was out of my system in a matter of 2 months. For the first time in my life, I felt freedom as an individual. I felt released and free to be me. No more fears, no more control, no more serving and submitting to this “person”. The constant verbal and emotional abuse from him, made me stronger. For this, I forgive and thank him for teaching me a valuable lesson in love, life and relationships.

the Butterfly Project Girls Night Out

To celebrate my newfound status, I met up with TGV Malaysia's PR Manager Regina and proposed a celebration that mimics the freedom and luxury of being a woman in this century inspired by my favorite show - Sex & The City.  It would be called, The Butterfly Girls Night Out. An elevated experience at Indulge by TGV Malaysia where butterflies would turn heads that night.

TGV Malaysia 'Indulge' luxury cinema experience

The night would start with foreplay of soft jazz music, a round of mocktails and a tantalizing 10-course fine dining ballad that ends with a cinematic seduction watching Scarlet Johansen's “Lucy” in the luxury cinematic hall – Indulge.

a fine dining experience without the fine dining price tag

thanks TGV Malaysia for the hospitality!
(popcorn, drinks, desserts served during movie)

check out my fluffy blanket yay!
    (cannot bring back)

Being a visionary, I wasn’t satisfied just with that. Calls were made to Muse by Watsons (Watson’s Luxury Store) who generously sponsored 3 best dressed hampers worth RM1k and skincare products for invited guests. Next were to include a photobooth experience to recreate that red carpet paparazzi feel so I contacted 123Cheese.com.my (by far the best & most fun photobooth service I have used).

once a while, I'll glam up for a special night

Now what’s missing? Oh a makeover to make everyone scream that night when they see me welcoming them in Indulge. Who better to set an example of a Girl’s Night Out experience? Boy did I have fun turning heads and shocking everyone who did not realize it was me.

it feels good to be me again

In the end, it’s not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away.

    XOXO,

P.S: Many thanks to TGV Malaysia, Muse by Watson, 123Cheese.com.my, volunteers who helped out that night and butterflies for supporting The Butterfly Project. It’s been hell of a great year ☺

    4. Must have took you hell a lot of courage to breakaway from a person whom you've been almost half of your life! But definitely worth the applause because you were made to realise that this is not the person who will be your pillar when there is none other in this world. Like honestly, I believe a life partner should always be there to support no matter what..

A great applause to your achievement and how much you have proven that what you did has been leading you to the right path all these while :)

      1. Patricia, thank you so much for your encouragement, compliment and support *sniff sniff*

It took more than courage, I had mental breakdown and was going insane the first 2 months. It has affected my sleeping pattern, though not bad as I sleep 3-5 hours only nowadays waking up at the crack of dawn. I kept the community going and put on a brave face for my fellow friends, bloggers and butterflies. No one knew what I went through as I did not openly share my pain.

However now, a supportive life partner is definitely on my list to look out for. Once bitten twice shy. It will take some time for me to open up again to another man but it doesn't matter :) as I don't need a man right now.

    11. Oh mai! I didn't know there was a story behind this outing! I know how it feels like, being torn about leaving a relationship you have been comfortable with for half your life (mine was 9 years). What will come next will soon be far more greater than what you can ever imagine, trust me! I experienced it first hand and it could only get better!

Cheers to you Tammy and believing in what you do! We are all here to support you and the team!! Much love!

I don't normally share things like this, but I wanted to so others could be strong like me to get over a traumatic experience.

I didn't know you were reading and as a blogger (you & me) knowing someone reads your blog and like you is the happiest things to happen. I was weak, so weak but I picked myself up and face the harsh reality. It's not easy but it can be overcome and we will be stronger than ever. The feeling, I don't wish for it to happen to anyone I know T__T choose a good guy Pinku.

    13. I'm speechless, Tammy!
I had an inkling that there was some big changes in your life hinted at on an FB post here and there but as it's so hard for me to schedule my life to some Butterfly events sometimes, I don't see you often so I had no idea there was all this happening backstage.
The name Butterfly truly epitomises you, then. Emerging from a cocoon and becoming even more fabulous. I mean, you've been on TV and almost everywhere now! What is next?! Go forth, and fly, girl!
P.S. You're also looking younger by the day! I'm jealous, babe. Can't wait to see you again in person.
Totally, your ex's loss and your gain.

      1. Yeah I didn't really disclose what's going on in my life, this is just one of the issues I face in my rship and that is already emotionally draining. Butterfly will be here, as long as I live LOL don't worry about not being able to actively join us. Even on our FB, your voice matters. Now I never thought of that.. (butterfly) and it does fit the life changing experience I'm facing. My goal is to elevate Butterfly and I hope :) it will grow larger with beautiful people like you.

P.S: I think it's the weight loss that made me look younger haha.. or the change in my life, has released me from aging. I'm on a rewind now :) exploring and experiencing life from where I left it.

Thanks for the love & support, you're also young and bubbly at your age! Inspiring woman :) we need to catch up when we meet again. Would love to get to know you more.
