  • Lush Soak And Float Solid Shampoo Bar Review

    5.11.2014

my first Lush sold shampoo review

I went to Singapore last weekend to attend Lush Singapore's new store opening at Orchard Gateway. It's Lush Singapore's 3rd outlet open and apparently it's bigger than the one in Wisma Atria. I have not been to the other two stores, Orchard Gateway was my first Lush Singapore outlet visit. The store interior (tables, cupboards, shelves) are made of reclaim wood so it looks really homey. I bought several items mostly soaps for souvenirs. The bill came to SGD120! (omg). Anyway one of the Lush products I bought was my first sold shampoo bar called "Soak and Float" for SGD21 (MYR54.30). This was recommended for dandruff scalp concern, something I have been plagued since puberty.

have you tried a solid shampoo before?

    Sort out itchy, flaky scalps
We’re just going to say it upfront: this shampoo bar smells like campfires, but it is incredibly effective at fighting flakes and soothing irritated scalps. Cade oil is what gives Soak and Float its distinctive smell; we use it because it works wonders against the microbes that cause dandruff, and it also works to alleviate bothered scalps that are dry and itchy. Lavender oil helps to improve the smell, and works its magic with marigold petals to soothe and clear up irritated scalps. If you have dandruff all you need to do is Soak and Float.

A solid shampoo bar is something new to me. It's weird but I love trying new weird stuffs. I bet it comes in handy for traveling when you can't bring more than 200ml liquid on plane. Anyway Lush promoter told me their solid shampoos can be used up to 80 times and don't melt away in the shower. I put it to test and yes, it doesn't melt in water or goes soft in the bathroom. The solid shampoo lathers pretty quickly and surprisingly gives out a lot of bubbles on wet hair. You wet your hair and the shampoo bar and glide it down your hair. Lather and rinse through. Most of Lush shampoo that I have tried leaves my hair dry so a conditioner is a must. Other solid shampoo bars smell wonderful except for this one which smells like tar and campfire. The scent lingers for a few hours so it's really pungent. My friends says this solid shampoo bar looks like it has worms when they saw my instagram showing it off.

Anyway I'm sad to review that the "Soak and Float" shampoo bar does not work for me at all and in fact made my dandruff situation worst. My scalp is dry and my dandruff went overboard everywhere. It's hard to stabilized the dandruff situation back once this happens. I won't be repurchasing this because it does not work for me and the smell is off putting.

So a quick warning, maybe you should stay clear of this solid shampoo if you don't want major dandruff outbreak.

    3. Sorry to hear that it didn't work out for you. Ya, I also thought the concept of a solid shampoo bar was erm, interesting. I got a purple one (don't remember the name) when I was in Sydney last year, trying to finish it now. I guess mileage may vary.

      1. That must be the lavender one, called Jumping Juniper. It smells nice!

I'm trying to calm down the dandruff situation now. Pretty sad it didn't work for me. I almost believe the ingredients (which is kinda smelly) would work miracle on my scalp.
