  • EU Dairy Company Launches Healthy & Nutritious Cream Products in Malaysia

    11.21.2019

Lakeland Dairies brand products on display including Millac & Millac Gold Cream

A lot of attention and awareness has been focused on living a more healthy lifestyle and diet over the past few years. Increasing numbers of people are becoming more health-conscious and searching for increased knowledge and options for healthy nutritious meals. Healthy doesn't necessarily have to mean bland and unappetizing, there are tasty options available, which I'll tell you all about now.

Recently, I attended a Cream of Ireland event organized by Lakeland Dairies, as part of EU Dairy Naturally UK Product Launch @ Majestic Hotel, KL. As a Northern Irishman, born and raised there for most of my life, I was excited to be at an event in Malaysia that involved homegrown Irish products, especially dairy which I love and find are much tastier and of a higher quality than the foreign dairy products that are available here. (I'm biased I know!) Did you know that Malaysia has the highest dairy consumption per head in all of Asia?!

The Dairy Council for Northern Ireland is an organization established to promote the consumption of UK dairy products and advocate their health benefits, whilst also giving your tastebuds a treat! The dairy products are produced to the high standards of the European Union (EU), promising to deliver products with the best quality possible. All dairy farms are registered and milk processing plants are approved by relevant local enforcement authority on behalf of the Food Standards Agency (FSA) Comprehensive inspection programs are carried out on a regular basis to ensure all quality and food safety standards are met.

In addition to regulatory requirements, the weather and landscape of Ireland mean lush green grass is grown and from this high-quality feed, milk is produced and manufactured into high-quality nutritious products.

A popular brand under the Dairy Council for Northern Ireland is Lakeland Dairies. It's Asia Regional Manager, Richard McDonnell was at the event to give a welcome speech explaining more about his company, the dairy industry in Ireland & UK and it's relationship with the Malaysian dairy industry. Richard explained that Lakeland Dairies is a 120-year-old high-quality dairy co-operative, and actually, their products have been available to buy in Malaysia for over 30 years, and are used by many famous food manufacturers (Locally Pok Brothers) and service outlets throughout the country and over 80 countries around the world. He also introduced their own famous brands Millac and Millac Gold, which are high quality and flexible creams suitable for all kinds of dishes, which you can buy in supermarkets here in Malaysia. Recently Lakeland Dairies have been creating tasty desserts and sauces for pasta using local Asian flavours, which have been creating excitement among their customers. All of their milk and dairy products are sourced from Grass Fed Cows, which is proven to be very nutritious and an important part of daily nutrition intake.

I discovered when chatting to him later that he's from a small fishing town not far from where I grew up! It's a small world sometimes! Being so far away from home, it was nice to hear a familiar accent again.

After Richard's speech, we were treated to an exquisite culinary treat and gastronomy experience by local Celebrity Chef Dato Fazley Yaakob. He utilized Millac cream combined with meringue shells, mixed berries, figs, mixed fruit purée and fruit powders to create a work of dessert art on a table, producing an eyecatching and Instagrammable Eton Mess/Pavlova style. Visually so bright and colorful, that you immediately eat with your eyes 1st before your mouth! I dug in and tasted it soon after. It was so delicious bursting with flavor with the fresh fruit and cream. I couldn't stop eating!

Bite-size refreshments you can try making at home using Millac Cream

A big thanks to Lakeland Dairies for inviting me to the event and experiencing a taste of home after so long. I just want to share that during the event, there were refreshments served, including Crème Brûlée and Salmon & Cream Tart. The interesting part is they were all made using Millac Cream. They looked and also tasted amazing, like fine dining cuisine. So very happy to be able to witness such a launch. I felt lucky to be part of an exquisite culinary experience, which many other people have to pay a lot of money for in an expensive fine dining restaurant.

Make sure to try out Lakeland Dairies products for yourself. You can find Millac products at leading supermarkets such as Jaya Grocer, Village Grocer & Ben's Independent Grocer (B.I.G).
