About The Blogger

My name is Tammy Lim and I am an award winning blogger from Top 10 Malaysia Magazine and Cleo Malaysia Magazine. I have been blogging since 2008 and I am also the founder of a local Malaysian beauty & lifestyle community called The Butterfly Project. People often tell me that I'm a wonder woman, but in reality - if it's something you love, you can do wonders.

When I'm not wondering, I'll be on my computer searching for the next fountain of youth or hunting down a fantastic deal. I'm also a shopaholic, wanderluster, spa enthusiast and proud hipster who loves planning special occasions and surprises for her loved ones.

ouch should I even think about it?

Would you rather be doing what you enjoy for less pay or something you don't really like but that pays well?

Interesting question that haunted me for the past 2 years of my life.

My mom always tells me that I should do something I love and enjoy so that my life would be happy. I take that as a sign that I should wake up to the sound of birds singing in the morning to a cup of Milo and getting ready to work with a smile that says "Oh Yes It's Monday" rather than a "I should be on M.C today but argh I have to finish that project that costs 3million or I will lose [fill in the blanks].

    love your work right?

My dad still regrets paying for my college education. He turns to my sister and encourages her to go study I.T (Information Technology) saying she will have a big and successful career out of that. My sister didn't listen, she joined culinary arts instead. My dad sulked in silence then before her course starts, bought her a chopper (big meat cleaver) for her classes.

On the other hand, my demanding boyfriend with a good paying I.T job (but works 24/7) always tells me "Do what you love because it's what you loved that would bring you success".

I really want to be a blogger (career choice) with little to no pay at all (sigh can't beat Kenny Sia having thousands a month) compare to a job that pays me well (enough to survive city lifestyle). Could I survive doing what I love? I would probably have to steal wireless internet connections from sitting outside Starbucks while trying to make ends meet by blogging (a.k.a writing) and occasionally swipe someone's bun off the plate when they are not looking. No that would be bad right?  I think everyone who hears this would scream at me to keep my current job that allows me to treat them to a bun instead of stealing someone else's bun.

    Dream or Reality?

Well I could not picture me stealing buns so I continue working in the day a job that pays while at night I fly as a blogger. I try to manage both BUT seriously if I could choose, I would choose to do something I enjoy for less pay but happy and confident that it will soon turn out to be a rewarding life and yes maybe a better pay soon!

FYI I have tender my resignation and will be a free bird soon after Valentine's Day. Starbucks here I come.

    XOXO,
    Tammy

    4. Choose what make your life happy, your first paragraph do make me laugh because it is so truth. Rather waking up in a good mood, and not complaining about monday blues..Make good use of your skills, one day you might indeed get rewarded. It took a lot of courage to leave behind fancy paid job for being free birdie as long you won't regret your decision =). I'm wishing you good luck and all the best in your dream career

    5. I've always admired those who are brave enough to settle for less pay doing things they love. But I could never bring myself to do the same.

I dont hate my job, but not exactly in love with it either (lately i think I'm developing love for work, wow!). I stick with my job for 7 years because I cannot stop stalking Boots websites / donating money to the mall / clicking air asia web (tho they suck at times) :)

When I find myself stuck in a rut at work, I initiate change. Speak to the boss, hinting for a change of role etc.. It always turns out ok (my ultimate dream is not having to work, play with dogs all day, and still have money for shopping and hols heh!) I guess I'll settle for moderation, and continue dreaming at nite ;)

Hope you eventually settle for something that makes you feel contented :)

    6. Kudos to you Tammy!! Obviously it's a huge decision to make but surely this turning point gonna blossom into something else more beautiful & awesome for the next upcoming chapters of your life especially it's your dream & passion! Go for it! Not everyone has the courage to pursue their dreams (even myself!). Perhaps u may not be at Kenny's level now, but who can predict the future?! At least for a good start, use him as your benchmark. Grass is always greener or the other side rite. Perhaps someday sometime, you'll turned out to be a famous author, maybe someone like Cecelia Ahern, Jodi Picoult etc! Since writing/blogging is your passion, wishing you here all the best & truly looking forward to hear fantastic news from you!! Ciaw & take care ya .....
