  • Benefit's Brow Shaping Workshop & Raising Eyebrows Book Launch

    8.06.2012

had my brows shaped n waxed today!

It's been some time since I wrote about Benefit, so when I attended the brow shaping workshop and book launch today at Parkson Pavilion I got excited on blogging about it! (well after foot reflexology, tea, dinner and house cleaning a bit). Of course the most exciting thing was having to hold and to own the oh so adorable, Raising Eyebrows personal guide to fabulous brows by Cameron Tuttle. I was beaming all day long. This book is not for sale in Malaysia, but I checked you can buy it from Benefit Cosmetics website ($16.95) or Amazon.

The *beams* Raising Eyebrows book will make your brow grooming life seem much easier and affordable than you think! Cameron Tuttleauthor of the bestselling Bad Girl's guides (known for her wit, humor and pink covers), teamed up with global brow authority Benefit Cosmetics to bring you this book full of expert tips and tricks.
You'll turn heads with your perfect arches. In this book you'll... Discover the technique to get your brows into perfect shape Compare the pros and cons of waxing, tweezing, threading and more Learn how to maintain your brows at home Plus, get tons of tips and tricks from the eyebrow pros at Benefit Cosmetics

Shipping will be one problem if you're buying the book from overseas, I do hope it's for sale soon in Malaysia or someone at Malaysian Babes or LYN forum would open a spree to get it. Here's a sneak peek at what the book looks like and has to offer.

Benefit should open a workshop for its fans too!
(and give out the book as gwp)

do u want to own this book too?
they say the eyes are the windows to your soul
so your brows should be the curtain that unveils that

(using high brow to give it a lift)

The workshop was a quick guide on learning the basics to shaping your brows from home. Using what seems to be ice-cream sticks (or say dipping sticks) the brow experts taught us in 3 steps to get our brows done in a jiffy. We used Brow Zings (brow shaping palette) to fill our brows after marking our brow shape and arch. Compare to using brow pencil, the Brow Zings uses powder to fill the eye brow shape instead of drawing for a natural brow look. Another cool tool is the Benefit High Brow, line under the arch to create a lifted look. You'll appear more "energetic" or "alive" with it.

forget tweezing, say no to shaving
    say hello to brow waxing!

With brow shaping comes the brow maintenance, trimming them to the right length and cleaning the area off stray hairs. Those with bushier looking brows will need to tweeze/wax their excess hairs off. The brow experts advised us not to shave our brows as it will lead to some concerns (like cuts, scars, ingrown hair, coarse regrowth of hair since hair roots are not pull out). Tweezing strays hairs is fine and if we are not using any of the following which causes you to be more sensitive to pain:
    • Retin A
    • Retinal, any form of Vitamin A
    • Accutane
    • Antibiotics
    • Benzoil Peroxide
You can consider brow waxing as an alternative solution to keeping your brows tidy and neat for days ahead! The regrowth is slower since hair roots are pulled, it's more efficient than tweezing (well you can pull more hairs in one go than tweezing), and well you get to do it in a cute place like Benefit's Brow Bar! I got mine done on the same day and I'm not a virgin brow person anymore! My first time was right at the same place, Parkson Pavilion 2 years ago (click here to read).

    10. i tried it once when i was in the uk, it was okay :|
other than benefits brow bar, which brow shaping do you recommend?
coz i have been wanting to get one from shu uemura coz my uk friend says it's the best, but im not sure if the one in kl will be just as good :(

      any suggestion?

      ReplyDelete

      1. shu uemura does brow shaping via tweezing, they're quite good too :) between the first appointment it would cost rm30 above, depending on how much shaping needs to be done. Maintenance costs RM30? or was it rm20... couldn't remember. It's been some time since I shape my brows at Shu Uemura.

I would recommend doing with Lisa of Shu Uemura, she was previously stationed in Mid Valley. Now she's having a workshop in Shu Uemura Sabah.

Benefit uses wax to shape brows, quite an experience if anyone wants to try waxing for a change. It's quick and simple for the natural look.
